FABRICATING a real IRONMAN suit out of STEEL.

Holy mackerel sauce, this is some fantasmalicious stuff. I particularly like the vibranium (sp?) core. Did you use hearing aid batteries/a tiny LiPo or something like that along the backside?

Yep, that's why I stopped getting offended at not getting answers to my emails, facebook and other social media. I LIVE on the computer but I had to accept the fact that not everyone else does. Too much life to live.

I'm sure the OP will continue his build and inform us when he's ready.

SB.

Yeah. You are sooo right. I'm not really knocking the guy at all.
I'd love to see it finished for his sake as much as anything else.

I remember when I decided to build a screen accurate Elder Predator.
I got about two months into it and realized I'd gotten in over my head so I shelved it for several months.

I did eventually get re-energized and finished it. upgrading earlier pieces and parts along the way.
In the end it took almost three years.

I really hope this guy can get his done as well.

For those envious I am not by any means degrading this not even a little. But the real Iron Man with be a composite or nano tech. Metal is just to heavy. Carbon Kelvar armor or Chobham armor are miles ahead. Think outside the box. Why is Stark still alive? Because his box is only as large as his imagination!

First, his name is "Iron Man" not Carbon Kevlar Man. Second, he is fictional, so Stark is still alive because he doesn't actually exist and can survive things that no real human could. Finally, last I checked, chobham requires backing materials for it to take multiple kinetic rounds. Without that backing, as with other ceramics, it tends to shatter. That backing material adds significant thickness, and the minimum thickness of chobham is usually an inch or more...not really a good material for a mech suit.

...unless you just want Stark to wear a giant cube, but that might limit mobility.

HAHA his first suit was iron granted I really don't think the others were and no he doesn't exist. When I typed that I knew someone would state the obvious. By saying Chobham I didn't mean use it I meant think outside the box. The less weight in the suit the more the supplied muscle can move can we agree on that? If Iron Man was really made of iron a shot from a simple M4 would punch through. He's not Iron Shields on Maximum man either don'tcha know.

Does he not simply say in the first film that it's made from a gold titanium alloy? Which i believe to be a fictional alloy anyway.

Also, it's just a film.

Is anyone else having trouble trying to view mrjbarl's profile? Keeps telling me I "don't have permission".
Yup
