Evel Knievel / Jump Helmets "Best Paint theme??"

I'd say this is prop related considering there were several Evel Knievel movies featuring numerous jump helmets.

I've been thinking of finishing up a few helmets and find myself torn on the theme. The movie helmets don't seem as cool or iconic to me as some of the others w/ "Color me lucky" & "King of the Stunt men" painted on them.

Does anyone have any good helmet pics? Which one is your favorite?

there has been an Evel helmet popping up on ebay from time to time and not selling. This past week for New Years eve Robby Knievel jumped on the strip. I lost him in the pyro.

From what I understand Robbie was to jump the volcano but Fox dropped the ball and refused to build the ramp and proper areas for that jump so he simply jumped by it along the strip. He almost loses it a couple times due to the cold road. I had no idea he was jumping, my girl and I just ended up where we did at that moment.

I had no idea this was happening down the other side of the strip! Ive never heard of Robbie Maddison but jeebus cripes on a hang nail this is one of the craziest things ive seen!!! Not just going up, but he comes BACK DOWN! He almost missed the landing.

MX is always pushing the limits. Check out Matt Rebeaud pulling a 540 Flair last year. ****ing insane! Or Twitch flipping 120' without knowing what's on the other side! :cool

When I first saw it, I tried to find a photo with Evel wearing that design and never could. Ever...

I think it's an artists rendition or maybe a newer style but not one he ever jumped with.

I've seen some where the blue band wraps into the face piece and disappears. I haven't seen one when he jumped with stars on the chin area of the helmet either.

Innacurate to what? A replica?

When you really start looking at helmets you'll see stickers and paint themes change from jump to jump.

A particular helmet is clean one second and then it's got "Color me Lucky" on it a month later.

There are so many different flavors and subtle variations to those helmets that it makes it tough to pin one down. The sponsor stickers change fast too! BELL one day...Car parts the next.

What I'm really looking for are close-ups. They're tough to find. A museum was out there for a bit with helmets on display. I can't find any decent pics at all.

Still inaccurate but the closest so far!

Yes, I was referring to the replica ONIGIRI posted on the previous page. I never found a real helmet that matched it.
As far as real helmets go, the one you posted is nice!

My favorite has to be the one from the poster all of us kids from the 70's had.

Here's Evel's original Wembley Jump Helmet. Evel changed is designs on a lot of jumps same with the paint on his bikes they changed alot.

This was for sale on ebay a while ago for a lot of money way out of my price range would love to have it though.

Also forgot to say all Evel's paint jobs were done by a guy called

George Sedlak he has a website just look for sedlak studios on the internet.

I think he even does work for the public so if you wanted something to look the real deal he may be worth checking out.
