Eve from WALL-E Build

I really have not thought a whole lot about electronics. I am thinking about possible ways to have her eyes be animated and make sounds. Outside of that, not much. Of course that makes me curious what I could do in addition...

Its been a week since I updated last, but it was to spare you the fun of apply Bondo, sand, repeat...

I finished up as much of her head as I wanted to at this point. It will get primer as a next step and then I will form some plexi to be the face shield and then need to trim that section up a bit to fit the shield. It should be a close match, but I don't know how much was lost in applying fiberglass and bondo.

I know it's been a while since I updated, but between the weather and my schedule, time has not been kind to Eve. I did find a moment to finish off her head and get some primer on it. It will need some pits filled in an just an overall smoothing of the surface. Many more coats of primer needed to get it smooth enough.

I am going to start carving out the body slices and get that together and mix in trying to get a heat bend on the face plate. Going to practice with styrene before I try with acrylic. Never done a heat bend as big as this before. I need to sand some before I do the bend though.

Hey, this is looking awesome! I remember this build from a while ago. I am glad that you are continuing it! One thing that I found which is helpful when trying to find the shape/pattern of an object that has been changed is a super easy/simple technique. COVER IT WITH PAINTERS TAPE! :) Meaning if you cover the face section with painters tape then cut along the boundaries it should give you a pretty accurate template. Just make sure that you have at least two layer of tape that are in two directions ie. diagonal and horizontal or vertical so that the tape holds shape. Also, just noticed the comment about Bondo before. Make sure that you are using enough catalyst. You can get Bondo to cure in like 5 mins if you use enough.

The problem with this is that to actually get a smooth finish its better to have a slow cure bondo. But you can avoid this by doing MANY small batches and then after applying dont be tempted to touch it again otherwise you will get the crevices and cracks because of the semi cured bondo.

All the best! I am looking forward to seeing the finished product!

thanks for the tip about using the tape. It makes perfect sense. Have you ever seen any issues with it getting skewed because of a curve?

I have put enough catalyst, some times too much, but i think it is just the Bondo brand. I have used others that worked as it should, but this is just cheap and accessible.

Ill admit i jumped on this project with more enthusiasm than I have now. This winter's weather has sucked the motivation out of me.

This will get finished. The weather is starting to warm up and I have just recently broke ground on a new shop to give me more room to work.

It has been quite slow unfortunately. I primed her head and arms. However, the building of my shop has taken top priority. It should be done soon and then I can get back to work on fun projects like this. Don't give up on me.

Eve has still been on hold as I have been moving into the new shop. The builder and I have been sparring the last few weeks to get it finished. Here are some pics of the shop to appease the masses. :)

I hired the exterior to be built and I am doing the interior.

ahh man that's a nice workshop, I wish I had one like that! lol

subscribing to the thread, I think I remember looking at this a while back, glad to see that you are still working on it and see it coming along!

Keep up the good work, can't wait to see it finished.

Wait/this whole thing is your workshop!?

Yep! If it's worth doing its worth overdoing!

Soon I will start posting progress pics again. I got side tracked with shop things.
