ESB Mark Hamill Face Cast

Gino is right, and thats what i had always heard about the scene.... but seen this lifecast... i, have not.

very cool, and i cant believe NO ONE has thought of the "what if" vader HAD captured luke in carbonite?

eh?

ehhh???? :love

that would be a sweet prop, and deffinately raise some questions. :lol

would be neat to see this recast and resculpted into a more lifelike pose for a 1:1 luke figure... :D

I used to own one of these lifecasts too. It's certainly very cool.
I guess I got mine from the same contact (or friend of your contact) because mine came from the original mold too.

Great stuff.

You can se it is two different helmets. Look at the battledamage.
[/b]
I disagree: too many areas match on the two shots. There is some additional battle damage on the one on the right on the dome but it is minimal, making sense if it was filmed later, but too much add up to have it be two different helmets - the facemask is simply positioned differently within the dome.

There is a shot of the dummy head within another cut-up Vader helmet on Hyperspace.

Interesting about it being an optical effect.

I always thought that the 2nd face looked too "good" to be a phoney, but I always assumed that because the stage floor was raised to accomodate Frank Oz that Mark just stuck his head thru a hole in the floor.

Woulda cost a lot less than an optical ;)

I think you have a point there. Could be practical. I had wondered how they got this to look so good/real.

Tim

Definitely not optically added. I have one of these which came from a good friend... ;) But in the end, this was not used either for the long pause shot. Didn't look believable enough. It really was Hamill in there.

P.S. the "broken" helmets above do not match... detail for detail. Just a close proximity from one to the other.

I bid on a cast offered on eBay last year. If you ever take this to the junkyard, I'll be interested.

Thie Irish among you may take offense at that pal. :)

It is from the very lifemask. Only with eyelids (poorly) sculpted open...

It looks similar to the cast Joe showed earlier - same downturned expression to the mouth.

Great picture, thanks for sharing. I will be posting an interest thread very shortly.

Why are you picking on Mark Hamils looks. He's 56 years old. Did you expect he was going to look boyish forever.
