Episode 7 Blaster & Holster Clip

Is the model available anywhere?

I'd love to have a go at printing this off myself.

I do have a question though. Why not print off the fully assembled gun?? It should be able to be printed off in 2 halves & then just 2 pieces to fix together.

Ken will have to weigh in on availability. That would be one heck of a long print, as the scope took about 8 hours to print itself. Also there's no way to get a good level of detail in a print that large, due to all the differing angles of all the parts. Plus you would have a major pain in the ass masking job on your hands to get it painted. Just my opinion on this though.

My printer will do 2 colours - so I can do black & white at the same time.

Just an option - if you think it would be worth a try.

Model is not available... yet.
TMacken and I a working hard trying to get all parts to print and fit well first.

I broke this thing down into several parts for a few reasons....
--Makes it easier to print on most personal printers
--Makes it easier to mold once it is printed
--Makes it easier to paint and detail

So to sum things up, it just all around makes things easier.

Some one asked about the holes all over the model instead of just simply printing the hardware.

These areas will get actual hardware inserted into them.
Below is an example of my mk3 chest detail with the hardware added. It makes finishing a lot easier and looks really clean.

Also, I am currently looking into the material used for the grips. I have found some stuff that looks pretty close but I can't tell for sure until I have samples in hand... it almost looks like the rubber used for a jar opener.... anyone have any thoughts on this??

Yeah, I checked and it was at 95% and looking good, then I came back down 20 minutes later and it looked like that, and was at 99%. I'm going to upgrade my printer in a week, so I'll wait until I get the new setup working before I try and print that again.

Kenlandrum & TMacken you guys are amazing the model is fantastic. I just bought a 3D printer and can't wait to start. I just hope I can teach myself to model half as good as you. I would love to try and print this blaster are the files going to be free or what is the cost?

I have a question for any of the guys who have seen, or have the new TFA armor... can I get a measurement for the holster bracket?
This would be a huge help!

You might try McMaster-Carr. They sell rubber both plain backed and adhesive backed, in various thicknesses and textures.
