Endor rifle - any idea what this part is?

Here's what 8 hours with a hacksaw and some files produces!

What about this part that sticks out of the top shrouds infront of the Singlepoint?

fronttip.jpg

Notice the rear part which is hidden on the prop has what look like fine machining lines. They don't appear to be threads. The front tip is tapered slightly. The complete part would be longer as it appears to have been chopped off at the back.

Does the part look familiar? Is it a gun part? Part of a bolt or something?

I am completely aware of that but while I have many real V8 pistons to hand, alas I don't have a single spare ROTJ style piston (they are riveted to my Han and DH17 ROTJ blasters). Anyway, I don't think I'll even be putting pistons on this rifle, nor the black V8 plate since they don't appear to be on this version of the screen used.

EDIT: Just noticed that on several pictures there are two holes where the pistons would've been. Maybe I'll add them after all.

Not bad - but definatly the complete wrong pistons. :love

If your not in a hurry (i sold my mill and havn´t bought a new/bigger yet) ...... pm me the dimensions - i´m sure you will get some (sooner or later). ;)

Yes, I thought so.
I just figured the newer kit might have different pistons or something because it wasn't motorized.
The Boba parts are different than the motorized Revell shown on POSW. The Renwal DOES NOT have the letters above the "eyeholes"
here's mine

Is yours also a Renwal, I don't see the letters on yours either

Not really sure which kind mine is. I've stockpiled a bunch of parts from several Revell and Renwal model kits I bought years ago.

More or less finished the top scope assembly:

That last mod was a *****, not having a mechanical tool to do one straight chop I had to do it the old fashioned way:

Here's the scope rail I was trying to describe. The grooves run the whole length of the rail. Real scope rail on the right:

The butt plate needed an extra layer added like the original:

I'm still using that V8 part over the mag well. It covers the manufacturing info pretty good and looks cool. Plus no one can provide me with a pic saying it wasn't on my version! :lol

As for the scope shroud front piece, xenomorph said he thought it looked like part of the Jackal, but hasn't posted again yet.

On the original prop that we had access too. This was actually white teflon-like plastic painted black. It appeared to be machined. My thoughts were that it was not a found item. Just my 2 cents.

Great job BTW!!!

I also wanted to add. The seams and rough areas seen on our parts were present when we received the original. It seemed to have seen a bit of abuse and cracks etc were present. We chose to leave those since it was original to the blaster we had. Not fixing them for an idealized version. Also noted was that the top area of the barrel appeared to be from a BB rifle flipped upside down with the magazine on the top. It was apparent that the parts werent fitting together well and a hammer had been used to make some ajustments! Ill try to post some pics asap.

Thanks for your input Richie. Maybe you can also help me out with the front grip pump? How is it supposed to attach? The resin casting I got from you has a slot along the top that is only about 5/8" wide so to fit it onto the barrel it would have to be stretched open quite a bit. Would this be possible with a wooden part without breaking it? The resin one cracked when I tried to!

And there are no signs of holes in the bottom of the pump grip, no sign of holes that have been filled before casting either (you can see the continuous wood grain). The pictures I've seen of the originals have two slotted screws in the bottom holding it to the barrel.

WOW...I take a small break from the RPF for a few days and look what I missed :whoa

Great job Marcus, can´t wait to get to work on my parts now ;)
Even if my motivation isn´t as big as yours since I already have a finished Endor rifle, built with RA´s casts off a SU stunt rifle.

Anyway...It´ll be finished along with a bunch of other projects by the end of this year :D

Reg. the pump that came with Richies parts...it simply slides over the large -lower- barrel. The stunt rifle had it this way and didn´t show any mounting points such as screw holes etc. either. Maybe just glue it in place!? I´ll do mine with the pump I gor from Jason :)

Have received some jackal parts myself and will mold the key-parts with in the near future. Interesting to see, that the prop-dept. cut up a quite a few jackals for the conversions. You can get EITHER one of the parts with the 3 ridges right in front of the mag-well from an AR7 Jackal OR the smaller part in front of that, NOT BOTH :unsure

Keep it up guys!!!

Markus, do you have a decent picture showing the pump grip slid over the barrel like you describe? It would sit higher up than I'm used to seeing it.

The gip that we cast simply slid up over the barrel and had glue holding it in place as stated. It was wood. I did find and exact matching pump shotgun grip at a gun show BUT It wasnt on a shotgun but lying in a pile of grips so I have no idea what it originally came from. I did have to trim the rounded ends to match the screen used blaster. You could simply match the pics you have or not add the screws. I chose to copy the one we had access too.

On a side note. Not sure what the originmal Jackel stock was cast in(material) but the original peices were a foam like material.
