Endo Skull Re-painted

I just finished repainting my Grey Zone Terminator Skull this morning and I thought I’d show some pictures.

I got this model years ago, and had originally painted it plain silver not knowing that I could get chrome paints at the time.

A few years later I resprayed it with Chrome Alclad but was quite disappointed with the results. Then I recently saw someone else’s chromed Endo Skull which looked fantastic so I thought I’d have another bash at it.

The first time I painted the skull I had used an acrylic black gloss undercoat. This wasn’t very glossy and I think that’s why the skull didn’t appear very chrome like.

This time I resanded the head and resprayed it with Humbrol gloss black before applying the Alclad Chrome. This time it looks much better!!

What a difference. That is looking just awesome now. I have steered clear of anything needing a chrome finish, but you just changed my mind.

WOW. I would've sworn that you'd had it chrome-plated.

Great job! :thumbsup :thumbsup

Makes me much more confident in how mine will end up looking. I have the same kit and have had serious doubts about getting a decent finish on it.

Thanks the positive comments guys!!

Here's it is finished with kneck pipes added at the back. These really are chromed but i couldn't tell the difference!

Cheers

How long does it take to cure so that you can handle it without it being tacky?

That’s just what I was thinking Cessnadriver!

I wasn't going to add any eye lights but this things turned out better than I thought it was going to, so I might try adding the lights.

Only thing is I don't know anything about lights or circuits!! Apart from that if you stick two wires to a battery and then to a bulb it'll turn on!!

So does any body know where or what lights/circuits I could get for it to slowly faze on for a minute and then fade off again repeatedly? I could try to do a tutorial?

godaiking: I haven't seen any gold alclad, but you may be able to tint the chrome with something?

Funky Jedi: I left the humbrol gloss paint 4 days to dry. I've not really used oil based paint for years or ever through an airbrush, so I didn't want to take any chances. The alclad seems to be dry after only half an hour or so, but I still haven't touched it with me fingers (used rubber gloves) because I’ve heard that it can tarnish.
