Saw this tonight. Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Peña, Anna Kendrick, and other solid actors.

Good performances. Good pace, the action was done well, and the tension was handled nicely.

The big question, though, is whether it's realistic, and also whether it captures the soul of what the job is like.

With a few minor exceptions for dramatic purposes, it's realistic and does a good job of showing what some calls can be like.

If you've seen Ladder 49, it's similar in tone and message to that.

Worth seeing.

Not surprised it's realistic. David Ayer's only made gritty cop films, usually set in LA. He's directed them, and written them. I think he must have done a buttload of research into being a police officer in LA.
