Here's a comparison of the Elstree ROTJ mask and the 20th C mask. I have a better image of a 20th C mask that is closer in perspective but should ask permission first before showing it...anyway clearly they are from a similar period but there are many clear features that relate specifically to the one being from a ROTJ and the other being from an ESB.

How can it be if it has been modified to look like a ROTJ?

The Jedi was made out of an ESB. The TM is ESB and is from the same mold as a screen used ESB helmet...so it must be the ideal basis for a Jedi helmet. I think the result should be much better than a helmet which is a x-gen cast from perhaps a screen used helmet.
I have seen the casts from the TM Jedi and i have to admit thats its by far the Jedi helmet which looks closest to the Screen used lid.

yep thanks have those already :angel

I mean a side-by-side photo of that SPFX and your Elstree mask...also with the helmets on even...:love

I can take some pics of an SPFX ESB and my Elstree face, but since the SPFX is ESB it wouldn't help much. the SPFX face is also only primered.

The SPFX ROTJ is a nice looking lid, espacially the high gloss paintjob. Only thing I don't like about it is the neck. Look's like Phil has overdone it on that.

That is just conjecture.
See what happens when something is repeated enough.

But yes, the ROTJ helmets were simply refurbished ESB helmets.

.

Well nothing is written in stone but given its sheer size and the incredible amount of accurate and incredibly sharp detail it has, for it not to be either a production casting or a first gen from production casting would be unlikely. Don't forget that TM has been to the LFL archives and inspected original Vader helmets himself so he knows a bit about that. It is undoubtedly the most significant ESB Vader helmet to come to light.

Well we can always compare it to the screen helmet and see. I'm sure it will look impressive. My point is that modifying something doesn't make it more authentic, just more accurate.

You're right for sure Thomas. But i think if i had the choice between a helmet which looks as accurate as possible and a helmet with is more authentic but doesnt look like the screen used because of molding, y-gen castings ....i would prefer the first one.

The screen used Jedi helmet should also have many details from the ESB mask, so this should be the same with the TM.

I have to underline that. I think the TM is an authentic cast of the screen used as the SL ANH or DJ is one very close derivate to ANH. Beside the VP i think these are the only helmets where its fact they are screen used derivates. Dont have seen any other helmet you can say this about.

Just for fun I wanted to show screencaps of the ESB and ROTJ...it is hard to get good screencaps of the ROTJ helmet because most of the time it is in dark lighting...

And no squiggly lines... :lol

That 3/4 shot of the rotj you just posted is one of the perspex modded stunt masks that was re-used from ESB. Well they all were re-used ESB.

I like the shots from Vader in the Throne Room the most. The helmet shows some wear and isnt as shiny as in the other scenes.
