Hey guys,
Thought I'd get this rolling, I was going to wait a while before showing anything but having a thread always helps for motivation.
So my Orhadar print arrived today. To anyone who might be unsure whether to buy one or not I can tell you that you won't be disappointed.

So I've been practicing with with latex, as opposed to puff paint, for the webs. This method was suggested by Lunaman on another thread somewhere.
Initial results look promising.

I'm still getting a feel for it and practising at getting the correct consistency. The only mask making latex I could get hold of in the UK is a very watery latex. You have to mix in a thickener to get a consistency that's more suitable for applying the webs.
The nice thing is you can add paint to it so you can get exactly the colour you want.

So that's as far as I am for now. Will update with more soon. Cheers guys.

You always do great work, so I'll be keeping my eye on this. Looking forward to it!

And so it begins... Good luck man, can't wait to see you suited up!

^This. Can't wait, man. :)
I'm starting on one of these myself soon, with some tweaks. I'm glad your first steps are looking good already, gives me confidence to forge ahead with my own.

Nice...Lunaman ..... I hope to see you the best suites ..... Ultimate Spiderman Suit is definitely good for you ..... especially the Spidey eyes .... very great indeed ........:D:)

Oh just an old puff paint bottle. That way it controls exactly the same way as what I'm used to.
I've been practicing with the latex on a patch of Lycra material to stress test it. I will post my results tomorrow.
Man, I was out of shape with my 'puffing technique' but I'm getting the hang of it again.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Sorry for the double post. Just wanted to share my results with the latex on lycra. Seems good so far. Its sticks on tightly with no sigh of peeling at all.

Even when stretched in several directions the latex holds and doesn't break. One part did start to break after a while but only after it was waaay over stretched, it would never normally get stretched that far. So far so good.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Could you tell us the ratio of the latex to latex thickener?
And did you use a stretch additive? (I'm not sure if that's what it is called)

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Hmm, I'd guess about 4 parts latex to 1 part thickener but really it's just a matter of adding thickener til you get the consistency you want. And no, no stretch additive.
Only thing you have to be careful with is the amount of paint you put in. Too much and you loose the stretch, it just brakes. Also it looks really light, colour wise, when you first paint it on but it darkens a lot as it drys. Mine atm drys too dark even though it looks like a light grey initially.

Re: Redtogusa's ASM2 WIP using Orhadars print.

Yes but probably in the normal puff paint.

On that subject I was gonna ask you guys what you think the actual colour of the brick pattern on the blue sections are? Sometimes they look like the same blue as the material, others they look like a darker blue, still other times they look like a grey.

Looking really good Red, so excited to see when you actually put the latex to the print! May steady hands be with you brother.
