Efx Newsletter- New Resin Stunt Lightsabers (merged)

Re: EFX-Precision Cast Replicas

$250? Hell, I paid $170 for the Fine Molds unbuilt model when it first came out! I'll snag one of these if that's the price they'll be.

x2, this is the Falcon I have been waiting for. :thumbsup

Re: EFX-Precision Cast Replicas

I could probably stand it being just a bit bigger still. Probably around the FM size would suite most people and allow for more detail, but it still looks as though it will be nice.

Re: EFX-Precision Cast Replicas

Honestly, the price is a bit higher than I expected for the size. The quality of the casting and detail is really going to matter for comparisons to other models currently out there in the cost category. But I think the paint and finish will be the real make or break it issue for this item.

Re: EFX-Precision Cast Replicas

I'm confused by the efx website. Does it update? In under development for SW it doesn't show the resin stunt sabres--just the extreme Obi.

Are sabre replicas in the works--besides the extreme Obi and the Ahsoka? Should I be looking at a different site to get more accurate efx information?

As a courtesy to our network of authorized retailers, the Stunt sabers are only available through them for pre-order. We will add them to our site when they are in stock.

For U.S. Retailers, that allotment of stunt sabers are on a boat en route to the U.S. now!

i got all 3 of the resin sabers.
ani and obi are nice, good for the price, the v2 is crap, looks nothing like the picture. The v2 looks very much like a hasbro toy saber, not shiny, very dull plastic.

You don't happen to have a picture do you? I was toying with the idea of picking up the V2, but if it looks that bad I'll have to pass.

These are from Star Wars ActionNews website, they did a review this week of the sabers. Photo credit it theirs. Ef/X went with the full weathered look, which I like.

Yea, the thing from those pictures is that the pics they posted in the newsletter the piece was vac metalized witch made it look alot cooler, I love weathering, esp. on this saber, but doesent look right to me with just regular paint like that, but eh, i'll prob order one anyway lol

I had a chance to see these back in February at the North Texas Prop Party at Philip Wise's place.

Most of us, myself included, walked right by these for a while without even noticing because we assumed these were regular metal MR lightsabers.

In person, the Obi and the Anakin look really, really good. You can't tell at all that they are chromed resin until you pick them up. But as soon as you pick them up you feel silly, like when you pick up a beer mug thinking it's glass and it's a plastic one. They Obi and Anakin are really lightweight. The chrome is very smooth.

I didn't get any pics of the Anakin by itself. The V2 is a fantastic casting but the paint job is terrible. It looks like they painted it silver, then black, then used a silver paint marker to 'weather' the black areas. With a repaint it would look much better.

You get what you pay for. The reason they are not very expensive is because they are cast resin and not metal. If you want heavy, go for an MR or make one yourself. As for the paint job on the V2, a repaint would help a lot.
