eFX Limited Darth Vader helmet- photos

Not that I even plan to sell my helmet, and I know these were just put in at random, but this does make me pretty happy.

'Screen used' version or not, that is a AWSOME helmet.:love I'm really surprised to see the hand painting of the black areas. Kudos to EFX for going the extra distance and putting felt in the packaging to protect the dome. As someone who is still pacing back and forth waiting for his Limited to show up, I envy you emensely. I just hope mine looks as nice.:confused

Yeah, you can tell that the Gunmetal was sprayed on first and the black was hand brushed after masking because you can see faint brush strokes in the paint.

Right there with you. I have been waiting for mine to come out of Dallas for a week now. I keep starring at FedEx's tracking that hasn't changed status since the 3rd. Feeling very trapped within my own home right now. :angry

I did notice the brush strokes, and I will say it again that those are some very nice cell phone photos. Now if I could get my camera to make phone calls I would be one up on you. :lol

Any guess on the actual weight of the helmet? I mean, not the ballooned postal weight with the stand and everything. Just the helmet alone.

Received No. 368 on Monday. I absolutely love this thing. Even after all the cleanup that was done on this, there are still alot of "defects" to admire.

I took a couple pictures of my new limited EFX comparing it to the helmet that has been on my Vader.

EFX Limited on Vader

I am pretty pleased with it and shape-wise it just looks right. For costuming though the lenses are going to make it a hard sell to go out in. PS #344 for those interested

I just got mine Saturday. Number 427, it said on the plaque. Took the liner out to move the magnet over so the dome would sit correctly and I found a different number hand written on the inside.

I noticed the magnets and was surprised about them but on mine they line up the dome perfectly.

I think it's funny that a big part of the selling point and higher price of the Legend was that they were going to spray the helmet a base color and then hand brush an additional color on top, as well as all the warts and dings.

Then on the Limited they sprayed on a base color and hand brushed on an additional color.

I think Efx could have easily charged the Legend price for the Legend helmet based on it's history and pedigree and given both the Legend and the Limited the same paint job (the Legend paint). I mean, you're either paying someone to sit and paint a helmet or you're not.

There is one or two things about this run that will just leave you guessing. What the differences between this and that is and why it was done that way is just one of them.

Welcome to the very strange and confusing world of Chinese manufacturing. :lol

BTW, LOVE the look of the inside of the helmet with the liner removed. Instantly makes it look old and used.

Who, me? My only plans for this castings, (as it is) is to get the dome where it should be and maybe replace the mouth grills with some I got from Kurtyboy.

From what we have been told in the past, I believe the plaque number has nothing to do with the helmet or what order they were made in, but it would be nice to know exactly what that number means.

I think they put the plaques in when they arrive in the states. I know in the past, both MR and eFX would let you return something for a replacement and tell you to keep the plaque and not give you a new one with the replacement.

I can't wait to see how your fix comes out.

I'm sure it is likely just a quality control number, or just to keep track of how many are in stock. But we as Vader fans tend to desire some bragging rights of what we own. Having number this or that is better than just having VS have not. And I'll say it again. The little assemble it yourself numbered plaque is likely more appealing to the same type of collector who said, "I really don't know anything about Vader, I just jumped in and bought it because it was a limited edition.". Everybody has their reasons.

My limited edition arrived yesterday.

There are some areas of paint loss on the ridge near the nose... it looks like that paint had not dried completely when it was packed and got pulled off by the packing material.

Other than that I am thrilled with the helmet. It looks amazing and the quality is great. This is the helmet I have wanted since I first saw Star Wars in 1977 when I was 11 years old. I remember walking out of the theater and wondering where I could get a Vader mask. This helmet looks exactly how I remember Vader from watching the movie many times in theaters over that summer.

Here are a couple of photos...

Thank you, efx! This was well worth the wait and I think it is an amazing value for the price.
