eFX Gets Star Trek License

From their most recent newsletter (concerning the MIX):

Our factory is about to close out the production run, so if you want to add this amazing Star Trek replica to your collection you have until midnight PST on Monday, December 21st to get your order in before we retire this collectible.

They also mention that the final run number will be determined by pre-orders (not to exceed 1000). Makes me wonder what the final run size will be for this piece. Hopefully it does well enough to warrant more TNG/DS9/VOY based tricorders... Long shot I know, but a Medical MVII would be awesome!

From the looks of it on their website, it appears that about 75% or more have been sold, so that would mean about 750 Tricorders have been pre-sold. That is pretty good for only a couple of months.

I wouldn't mind some sort of update to let us know where things stand, such as if they ever got the new plaques and if Brent signed them and if they were shipped back to China.

Does this mean that they will not sell anymore after the 21st (which has already passed) or that they will only sell 1000 of them?

I just checked out the web site and it doesn't look like you can place an order any more, so I would say that they are done.

Anyone heard any kind of news on these? My PC just died a few days ago, so other than the eFX website, I'm hoping this one thread will be the 'go-to' place for any breaking developments on the Trics. :)

Nope, nothing new. There are a few members that seem to always know what is going on with them and I've been hoping they might be able to give us an update.

Well, before it was postponed a month, EFX said that the "November" shipping date on the site meant that THEY would receive them in November and start distributing them from early to mid December. I have taken the "December" shipping date to mean we can expect these from early to mid January if all goes to plan. But We also haven't heard anything about the plaques or whether they were signed, etc. An update would be appreciated!

Hold your horses...they are comming. They will start to ship mid January. The production run is closed out, but the bar on the website showing the number remaining isnt correct. They said they would do a maximum of 1000 pieces, but are closing the production run down based on the number of presales. I think the site still says you can wait list for one, so youre not really out of luck yet. You can also still put in an order with one of the retailers online.

Just returned my horse to the stable...for now.

I am EXCITED! Please keep us posted kertratz. Most of what we know in this thread is because of your posts.

My wife got me one of these as a Christmas gift, and she was a little disappointed that they weren't released prior to the holiday.

Being in this hobby as long I have been, I wasn't really surprised the piece was delayed, but I am looking forward to its arrival!

Anyone know what to do if you were one of the people who had to place their order via telephone due to the web site issues when these went on sale back in September?

My sister ordered one and put down the $100 deposit but has no info other than her credit card being charged.

How would she know when to make final payment etc.?

Call them they will be able to help you!

Since it is now early January, I figured I would bump this up to the front and see if there are any updates about what is happening.

I don't mind the delay, but I really wish that eFX would give us some sort of official update, instead of us getting 2nd hand info from someone who has a source on the inside.
