The web page does not have secure checkout.
Is that good, or bad?

It's not a good thing when dealing with online payments.... It's similar to a back door; someone can always get in.
That's what I thought as well, but I just found this on their web site under "Where To Buy".

Thanks for posting that...looks like EFX has already changed their business model. When dealing with 'limited editions' this could be problematic for guys like us. With that many retail partners they could snatch up an entire run then boost the prices. It will be interesting to see how this works out. Originally you could only buy directly through EFX. with MR several people who bought through 'retail partners' got screwed on warranty issues. IM ok with the $350 price point on these Tricorders although I got all my MR pieces at considerably less then MSRP through Ebay and Vendors. My Assault Phaser was $200 incl shipping (MSRP of $499), my TOS tricorder was $250, My TOS Comm was $175 (Nimoy Sig edition), TNG Phaser also $175, Han Solo Elite $295, TOS Klingon Disruptor $150...I saved a lot of money buying through Ebay and have yet to receive a faulty product.
I hope so, it certainly should be.
Dang. I should have read this before submitting "Checkout". Now I can't sleep (there was a bad History in February for me):cry
I could not get the website to work so I called Brian and ordered and that was just now and they still hadnt hit 250 so I got my holster
According to eFX's newsletter, "the first 250 who pre-order on our website will get a special bonus" (italics mine).
I do hope they'll make an exception for those of us who had to order by telephone because of problems with the site.
well, here's hoping that everyone is going to have a nice Christmas.
Thanks for confirming that. I also ordered by phone, apparently shortly before you, so I guess this means I'm getting the holster as well.

Only one is fine for me for now! After the MR business, let's hope that one arrives.
Hopefully they will deal the necessary preventative security initiatives on their end but I am prob. more nervous about broadcasting that their checkout is not secure here than I am of it prob. not being secure, LOL. Let's just bury that info and take our concerns straight to them.
A holster would be nice, but I haven't read or heard anything about this. Anyone have concrete info? Acrylic case sounds like a clear plastic case and not a holster.
Also, since there are clearly many more of these left, I repeat that shipping out the first batch early will help create buzz for the remaining pieces. I first heard about EFX's plans for a Mark IX HERE, and I usually consider myself up to date on Trek's official merch. I am sure there are hundreds of people who don't even know about this that would jump at the chance.
