Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Yeah the flash seems to be washing it out. I believe the gunmetal color is pretty close to accurate. It may be only a half shade too light, but it's so hard to tell with closeup flash photography. I'm betting the color is fine. Again, there is nothing wrong with the paint/color etc....I just see primer showing thru the brush strokes and that is easily remedied. I'd just like to see it perfected prior to sending it to the computer for final production paint ops. :)

Well I can see they've left the nick on the right side of the nose slots which is very encouraging to see. Need some closer photos of the teeth and cheeks.

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

As Dave already said, the paintjob was probably done in a rush, just to get it ready for display. I don't think it's fair to draw any conclusion or judge it based on these pics (as far as the paint job goes)

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Oops, I stand corrected TMG. I see at least 4 blaring errors and half dozen minute weathering omissions. Easily fixed in the right hands. I'm slipping, I need more coffee.........he he.

Wait and see fellas. We know LFL puts some constraints on the accuracy of their licensed pieces. (Do I need to remind you all of the DP Deluxe?))

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

This looks to be the eFX paint scheme:

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

That is implying it was unintentionally done that way. Be objective for a moment, do you HONESTLY believe that any painter with all of the photos available from LFL, or screen caps from the movie, would make such an error, or is it more likely that this is part of LFL's "less than 100% accurate" plan?

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Actually, it's easy to look at a photo and be mislead to color selections when you are using gunmetal versus black. You can easily mistake one for the other on a 3D object like a vader helmet. It takes a large series of photos to glean certain details from. We painted vader helmets inaccurately for years before newer photos came to light. Truly the only things that will verify the correct scheme in everyone's mind, is once it's done and you look at it from every single angle. Once it's correct, I don't care which angle and which type of lighting you use on it.............it looks like the screen vader. But until then, something will bug your eye..........even if you don't know what it is.

Dave :)

Carsten the section between the tubes on the right side (Vader's right) is painted black also

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Well, IF it were Gino painting these helmets, and seeing as his ANH Vader IS accurately painted, wouldn't logic then lead to what I've already said about the LFL Accuracy issue?

So far, Carsten, it appears that is right. We need to see more of the left side though.

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Yeah, if it is dictated to not make it accurate by LFL, that would make sense. It's just strange they'd do a Don Post on these.

With such a good paint job I find that it's a shame they don't do it like this:

Re: eFX ANH Vader?!?! WOW

Needs to be like this:

PS forgive the dome placement, I dusted it right before shooting just now. I got it all off kilter. But you get the idea.
