EFNY Snake Plissken Boots

Brandon,

I will send you a PM RE: the kneepad specifics. This way we change exchange information because I am also VERY interested in getting an accurate shinplate and buckles. Do you think your friend will do a set for me, as well?

i'm sure he would be up for making others. he'll have the mold, from what i understand, he'll be making them in fiberglass. although he did say they could be made of metal, but for cost it would be cheaper to do it in glass. i'll keep in contact with you both as this developes. as for the side buckles, try to track down a set of vintage 70s era ski boots, believe it or not, lol. the pain i have found is finding a set that has 5 buckles. alot have only 3 or 4.

the attached photos are courtesy of jon8712, (i am SUPER jealous of this guys boots) and are the ski boot buckles mentioned. finding some with this thick of a width has been difficult but i FINALLY found a pair for only $30 on eBay.

i'll keep you all posted through this thread and via PM as things unfold:cool

i tried to order a pair. converted to USD they're $105, but they don't have an option to ship outside japan!!! i wrote an email to see if i can get them to ship to US. has anyone had any luck with this site before, or for that matter, a foreign website that doesn't generally ship outside their native country??? cause these are probably better then any pair i could ever make, so i NEED THEM!!!!

I've been looking for a pair of the shin plates as well. Would you please keep me informed, too? I'm having a pair of boots made based on Plissken's but the person making them does not work with metal and cannot replicate the shin plates.

can i ask how much your boots are costing to have made? i was using vintage hi-point boots as a base, but the more i see pics like magpie's the more i realize, they might not fly with me, lol. do you have any info you could pass?

thanks

They're going to set me back about $600.00. I'm still having difficulty getting anyone to even reply to me about making the shin plates. I have made several attempts to contact various costume makers but none of them have replied. Maybe the places I've contacted simply don't have the ability to do the work and are just blowing me off. It's frustrating.

Good luck, Jun Fan. From what I hear, the shin plates are the hardest part to get done. I was talking to Hector (one of the first few guys to get the boots done) about them and he said that the place that made his won't even make them anymore.

They need to be machined, so good luck. If you find anything out, let me know! I'm close to making a small run of the kneepads!

thanks,
Spylocke

Thanks for the info, Spylocke. I'm going to inquire to a machinist company soon in a town about an hour away from me because they said they do "any job, big or small". I assume the boot needs to be finished first so they can have accurate dimensions for the curvature of the shin plates to plug into the CAD, but I'll find out for sure after I make my inquiry.

I'll keep you informed here.
