Ecto-1 at E3?

I was reading about the release of the Ghostbusters game and how they wheeled out "Ecto-1" for the E3 crowd.

Is the car in the article actually Ecto-1 or is it just a slapped together crowd pleaser?

I know that there are a few on the RPF that have seen the original car on the lot at the studio where it is held. I have heard it was in terrible condition.

Just wondering if they gussied up the old gal for some more glory days or passed her by again.

Anyone?

Well, if it's a replica it's a damn good one. I seem to recall reading somewhere that Sony was refurbishing the original Ecto (not the -1A) to promote the game. So yes, in my non-expert opinion it is most likely-probably the original.

EDIT: From wikipedia (Don't forget the salt)

. Both Ectomobiles are currently sitting in a Sony pictures backlot having recently undergone a full restoration after years of deterioration

I think it's the Ecto-1 that was making the rounds a few months back. Not the original but in the movie... if that makes sense.

The Ecto 1 screen car has been partially restored and is being used to promote the video game and Bluray release... So yes it's the real deal...

I saw it last halloween at Knott's Scary Farm... awesome in person:

Paul Francis owns or did own the Universal Ecto (I believe it was or is up for sale) he did a good job restoring it and it is probably better then it's ever been...

As I said the real deal screen used car has been restored for the game and Bluray release, it was restored just for the purpose of touring to promote the releases so if you see it at a big event sponsored by Sony then it's almost certainly the real deal...

That was also the original. Sony gave it a really low-quality "restoration" for the 2005 reissue of the DVD. It was recently restored correctly for the Blu-Ray and GB:TVG release. Here's a small clip from a new BRD feature on the restoration...

You guys also mentioned the Universal Ecto.... the USF car was actually the base reference for the Ectomobile in the video game.
