Ecto-1 for Kenner/Hasbro 5 inch figures [WIP]

I managed to find a set of the new Ghostbusters figures, and thought why not make the car?


It turns out, a correctly proportioned* Ecto-1 is roughly 17 inches long.

* I want to try and match the slightly cartoony look, so some details will be simplified, exaggerated, and retro toy-ified.

Modeling the main car body went pretty well.

After a ton of adjustments, it's starting to look the part.

A few hours later, and we have a roof rack & light bars. I figured separating the windshield & doors would be the last things to do.

Starting to pack the roof with gadgets.

More stuff on the roof and placeholder tires.

The rest of the roof lights are in place, and I managed to split the windshield & most of the windows.


At this point, I'm still not sure if I want to put window parts on the doors, or keep them empty for that retro toy look.

I got the side tubes and ladder started.


And while we're "upgrading", we might as well add a missing part on the packs.

Test printing the ALICE frame.


It needs a few adjustments, but I'd say that's a pretty successful test.

I think the frame is pretty much dialed-in, time to print the rest. The wand & cable can be stowed neatly in the correct position as a bonus feature.

Rebuilt the door & window frames. Just a few external parts left, and it's time to move to the interior.

Back to the car! I think all the external parts are in place, they just need additional tabs to secure them in place.
