Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Hi,

Definitely going to tackle just two kits at once from now on. Working on 4 is just too much. My girlfriend is being very understanding at the moment!

Cheers
N

Whatever it takes, Nic. I would like to remind everyone that this little project started back in 2006 and final product is finally happening. I can't imagine a more supportive group of people. Thank you Nic and the same to the GF.

This thing seriously looks like it's CGI. If I had...what's it called...oh yeah, money, I would definitely buy one of these.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

WOO HOO!!! :love:love:love:love

Nick! Thank you my friend...... the TWO studio scale T-47 kits arrived to the shop in record time! :D I had the shop guys inspect them and they stated that each kit had one minor, very easily fixed break, but they stated the castings were OUTSTANDING! They (and I) are looking forward to the builds. :D

I wish to thank you again for releasing such great quality kits to the public! :D

I also wish to thank Jason for doing such great work on the decals and getting them sent so quickly. :)

The entire purchase was a very great experience in professionalism... and artistry! (y)cool:thumbsup

Thanks again! :D

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Hi,

At the moment I really am max'd out. I will post a review of where I am at with this project at the end of March. I have to say these kits are taking waaay too much of my time up right now.

Nick

Nick, are there any openings in your quere for two more?

Ya that's a very complex subject!!
Can only imagine trying to kit it
and do it right....wow thats a ton of work!!

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

I just got this HD screen cap directly from the TESB dvd.. can you please check the harpoon gun??? there are two 45 degree side supports to the harpoon gun.. i always thought MR added those just for safety and they did not actually exist in the original design, but it is pretty obvious those supports are there.. just wanted to share and hear your thoughts..

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Umm that would be the live action model in that cap, not the studio scale prop, which is totally different in every aspect to the filming mini's.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

As Ralphee says the live action prop speeder had those side supports, but the ILM filming models didn't and that's what I based my kit on. As you can see in this pic they haven't even got Lukes' grey markings on the airbrake box! -pretty major continuity error really!

NB: I did incorporate a few aspects of the live action cockpit to make the kit a bit more interesting and lend more scope for people to superdetails.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

its been a good while (not faulting the making/kitting process) and just wanted to "check in". i'm not sure how long your interest list got and if all parties are STILL interested. do you think you'll still be able to fulfill all the requests (assuming -ALBEIT DOUBTFUL - all "interested" will commit) for the kit?

basically, trying to be as polite as possible, i'm kindly wondering where i was on the interest cue, and any possible schedule. would like to have some money set aside to secure one of these beauties.

many thx

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Thanks so much Nick.. i very much prefer what you did, since a real harpoon gun wouldnt need those supports.. do you think they probably added those just to add stability to the live action model since it was used for action scenes??

Hi,

You are about 2/3 of the way down the main list. I'm going to have to review my progress on this project around the end of Mar. I'll issue an update around that point with some idea of how this is going to work out longer term.

Cheers

Thanks Nick!
I (sadly) appreciate you looking up that info and giving us a feel for your schedule. Good luck, chin up, and take a breather occasionally -- you'll go mad if you keep your nose buried in it. lol

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

I received mine today and let me just say WOW!!!!
This is an absolute wonderful kit with castings on par with Lasses Vader TIE-fighter kit, really great!
Thanks Nick!

Good to hear that there are some shipments of the kit - I am still interested Nick and
happy to wait.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Well, i got a kit a few days ago, at least, i got a hull set, the other parts are due to me in the AM from the US.

Anybody else building this so far...anybody else have the same god awful casting of hulls i do? I do mean....AWFUL.

I mean, a few air bubbles isnt the end of the world, but this thing, well it may as well be porous......i dont think there is one clean panel line meaning much of it ill have to fill and re scribe.

Oh and anybody else noticing, that MUCH of the model, is in fact idealised, and pretty far (at least from a donor aspect) from accurate?

Many parts are already being found, that are total easy pickings...so i find it hard there not present on the cast parts....which im still yet to eyeball tomorrow.....exctiement....more like sheer dread....yup, money well spent.

Pics to come as i need to blow some primer on this, so i can show how bad things really are....airbrake boxes look nice though.....and i hear the decals rock....so not a bad deal at all!

Lee,

I got my kit a week ago and though there are some things I plan on modifying, I am overall happy with the casts and parts...especially for a first effort. My hulls aren't as bad as what you described.

I haven't given it enough of a review to determine the accuracy of the parts to kit parts. I'll have to examine it in more depth. Interested in seeing your pics so that I can compare them to mine.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Isel maybe its more what an individual is willing to call acceptable, if your happy, your level of quality is lower than mine? Thats not a bash at ya buddy....just how i see it and my hull is pretty poor.

I just got my parts set, first part i looked at seems off, the airbrake box aperture contains four tiny upright cylinders.....in the kit, these appear as just pieces of cut rod.....on the prop, they are in fact from the Tamiya Vosper.......so either the casting isnt picking these parts out.......or there not parts from the Vosper?

Guess if certain parts couldnt be found......why not ask for some help i guess?
