Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Hi,

Will have some more castings to show soon. Had a week or so where I've just not had a chance to do all that I planned to. That said I'm nearly done with all the moulds. Got 7 part poured and will be doing the big V2 hull moulds next weekend ( I'm away from tonight for a few days)

Truth be told I'm also having a little cashflow hiccup as I need to spend another £200+ on silicone and stuff and I need to juggle things a bit. All will be well though. Thanks for being patient!

Cheers
Nick

Hi,

Here a couple of pics showing some more castings. The engine cooling fins have turned out well, and I'm very pleased with the rather tricky lower airbrake supports.

NB: The engine bulkhead is just an old GRP test cast and the fins have just been push fitted into place for the purposes of the pic.

Also got the main gun barrels sorted, and the canopy hinges, plus the seat and a couple of parts for the gunners station.

Next up and awaiting their second pour of RTV are the airbrake flaps top & bottom, the angled gun bulkead covers, two pipes for the engine area and a couple more cockpit sections including the dashboard.

Hope you approve

Sweeeet!!. The castings look outstandingly clean mate. You've done a fine job replicating this bird!. Can't wait to see one of these assembled. :eek

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

I should have said that the actual gun barrel is a plastic tube that the gun bulkhead and the gun barrel sections sit into. Keeps it lighter and means that there shouldn't be anyone with drooping blasters in a years time! :)

Thanks Dan. Couldn't have done it without your help on the dims. Be patient just a bit longer and that big Speeder will be in your hands at last! :rolleyes

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Once the Speeder is sorted I've been mulling over whether to do a Rebel gun turret as per the picture below. I would be able to make one that was in scale with the Speeder ( maybe with a Rebel figure looking out the top )and I think it would really snazz up any display of the Speeder that folks may be planning as the Speeder could be mounted off a panavise as if its flying over/past the turret, as per a shot in the film as I recall.

It wouldn't technically be studio scale as the turret model ILM made seems to be waay bigger than is practical...however, just an idea. Any thoughts....?

I cant say it would hurt my eyes to see it happen Nick lol, sounds like you have a plan, keep saying this, but god its good to see more TESB stuff, though in many ways, reference is a big roadblock...bring it on Nick!

Nick, the idea of a turret sounds fantastic. I think that would be an amazing addition.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Hi,

I haven't nailed a final, final price yet. It was around the $370 mark plus shipping ( though I'm trying to keep the weight as low as I can)

I have to do a final tally of costs based on the proposed number of units I hope to shift, plus take into account how much the proposed decals will be which I have no clue about yet. I'm expecting it to end up around the $380-390 mark at most. I think for something this big with two pilots and 4 moveable airflaps that's a fair price point. Hope you guys agree?

Nick

You can count me in!!!!

Hi Guys,

A few more test parts to show you. The airbrake box in the last image is just an old rough test cast so don't look at that too closely!

I'm pleased with the way the harpoon gun has turned out and the airbrakes. Hope you like 'em.

I'm doing the V2 hull moulds at the mo' God they are time consuming... and silicone hungry!
