Early Millennium Falcon Pics

Looks a bit too small to be 1/25?

BTW: Are those large scale motorbike forks sitting in the middle there?

Yeah, Esci 1/9 stuff, IIRC. There's a Kettenkrad fork in there too.

Is the upper green bit K-rad also? Can't check mine, it's all over the place.

I've just checked the 1/9 Kettengrad on studioscale but no joy. Tried the Hummel too. No luck.

This is one of the part maps I'm tinkering up. I've got the rest of the engine covered in other pics. Let me know if I'm off base with anything. Plan to do my own thread with links to a few of these to see what else can be turned up. In fact I think there are also 1/15 Hummel track links used underneath the Panzer III parts. This is still WIP.

#13 is from the esci 1/9....can't remember, but I think it's r75. At work, but I can tell you when I get home.

It's the Esci/Ertl 1/9 BMW R75 with Sidecar, and it actually supplies a whole bunch of those parts, including #12, #13 and the motorbike forks.

Thanks very much. Just found a picture of a finished version of this kit and I can see those forks really clearly. Great.

Those yellow "crankcase" looking parts nestled next to part 10, Motorcycle crank? Maybe 1/6, they look pretty big when measured up to say, a Yardley wheel though.

I think 9 may be from the Nitto 1/35 Hanomag 251/1. Its hard to detect in that photo but the Tamiya wheels have a rasied edge around the holes and I do not see those on this part from other reference.

Thanks for the great finds guys. Trying to do this with my kit archive in storage is a bit mental, but I've got the MF bug now and can't stop!

I'm aware this is starting to hijack Whiskey's thread and what he needs to find. So will update my part map with the info given here and start my own thread soon. I'm still trying to find the green parts that Whiskey enquired about. I have a coulple of kits on order so will check those when they arrive.

Cheers
Nick

No worries Gort.

I'd be happy to open this thread up to anyone who wants to ID parts.

I noticed they used 2 Entex Wankel kits on the 5-footer. They used both left and right engine halves just for the portside mandible and sidewall.
The one facing rearwards is just a hacksawed portion of the Wankel.

Then on the starboard (cockpit) side they used just the right engine half.

$2000 would be cheap for a 5ft Falcon Kit.

Yeah but what an awesome prop that would be.

Looking at my Toys R Us Extraordinaire Falcon there is really not much to it. Top, bottom, side pieces, dish, guns, and that's about it. And it's bigger than the 5ft Falcon, although far less detailed obviously

I don't know but it just seems once the master is built to sell basically a shell like the Toys R Us Falcon would not be that hard. And considering how many of us shelled out the money for the MR Studio Scale and how so many others have built their own there is certainly interest. Each person could built an inner frame, lighting, whatever.

That glorious 5ft shell is what we need.

I have a few kits needed for this build if anyones interested in castings

Aurora M8 Carrier - Engine flaps
Entex Wankel Rotary Engine - Port & Starboard detail pieces
Bandai Hummel - Engine fins
Aurora Sea Lab 3 - Hull detail

Hi,

I think Martyn Kremmen on the MF builders forum is kindly doing some Sealab casts for me. However it it proves a hassle for him I may well take you up on the offer.

I don't suppose you have a Bandai 1/24 Panther G that you could cast up parts from?. Just lost out on one on Ebay the other day. Damn, they're rare...and expensive!

Cheers

I just picked up 2 1/24 Panther G's. Sorry it might have been me that sniped you. Someone got me on the 1/24 Jagdpanther at the last minute though :cry Basdards..... I wil cast up what ever you need mate. No problemo. Im not going to se these old kits as donors any more & just mould parts from them. Their just getting too rare. I just picked up the ENTEX 1/8 R75 Motorad wit Side care for the 5fter but its the Nitto 1/9 we need....

Hah!, did the Panther have a distorted top hull? -I think you did pip me to the post. Unfortunately the auction for that and the Jagd ended at the same time at about 1am UK time, so I couldn't keep an eye on them. I did wonder if it would be an SS builder going for it. I did wonder if the Jagd has many shared parts with the Panther as an alternative kit source?

I'm nearly ready to post up a thread on the 5' Footer with a whole bunch of part maps. I'll mark the bits I think could be the Bandai Panther, plus I'm sure you know better than I where else it was used.

If you would be game to do some casts for this I'd be really grateful and will of course cover your costs as best I can.

Cheers
Nick
