Just finished up the Hunter-Seeker... figured I'd share some pics!
I had a good time researching this piece. In fact, I've spent more time working on reference for this than just about anything I've done in the last year or so. It's interesting to note that there are as many as 3 different seekers used in the Chamber scene alone which adds to the confusion. I'm guessing they were pick-up shots.
Not huge differences, but subtle things like the bars on the sides are flat on one piece and round on the rest, the rear-end-caps have some little differences here and there...the front ends have holes on some and none on others; that sort of thing. Like most props, I'd bet nobody was checking for continuity at the time and they most certainly didn't expect guys like us to examine these with a microscope all these years later.
Having said all that, I went with what I believe is the Hero-prop. It's certainly the cleanest version with the most detail. It's the one you see coming out out of the wall in Paul's chamber. There's also a great shot of the rear (propulsion) end of the seeker that I replicated on mine.
I gotta say, I'm really happy with how this turned out. I've got a few changes to make on the next one, but for the most part this is finished.
Weighing in at almost a pound, construction is 100% custom right down to the brass spring behind the acrylic tip. The rest of the prop is aluminum and brass.
Here ya go:
