Dulling Spray

I just ran across this great stuff called "dulling spray." It's been used by photographers and film crews for years to knock out reflections and light glares on highly reflective surfaces... like our favorite goldenrod.

The spray is an aerosol based paraffin that comes in standard spray cans and puts a mate finish on pretty much anything glossy. Also, it is removable with a rag and some mineral spirits. I'm pretty sure this stuff was used on 3PO back in the day before digital enhancement.

Check it out K-Line Dulling Spray

I'd say it's exactly the stuff that was used - it's from a British company and it's the primary dulling spray used in the industry,
There's matt and semi-matt...

Cool.... I wonder if they used it on Vader's dome in ANH? In some scenes it's quite glossy, yet other times(like the Tantive IV scenes) the dome is satin finish..

Cheers,
John
