1977 C-3PO Costume

..., and now io9...

Amazing DIY C-3PO Costume from 1977

Great story, I was right there with you. I get more of the meaning of what Star Wars means to me from that costume, than just about anything I have ever seen, except for maybe the original C-3PO Kenner action figure I still have from then. Thank you for the warm and fuzzies man.

That is absolutely the best costume story I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I was 11 when Star Wars came out and those memories are the best.
Thank you so much for sharing.

Re: ok,, which one of yall is this?

Someone posted about this earlier. It's a C-3PO costume from the 70's so I think it's pretty good.

Re: ok,, which one of yall is this?

I was promised that these photos would never show up online.

Re: ok,, which one of yall is this?

for the amount of work involved, the amount of data he had to work on, and the amount of time it took, i think its bloody awesome. i thought one of the cool things about this forum was no-one bags anyone elses work, even if they think its terrible?..

Re: ok,, which one of yall is this?

Not bagging it,,, the costume itself for the time is pretty good,,, its just the underwear I guess that throws me,,,

What a great story!

A crude costume by today's standards, perhaps, but the value is in the story and the memories. :)

Re: ok,, which one of yall is this?

this was years ago, and the back story is great. The costume was made using whatever could be found at the time. Great work.

What can I say? I ran out of time to finish the costume and I improvised . No excuses; it was either tighty-goldies or let my restraining bolt waggle in the wind. :lol

It's cool. :) I fully expected to get ragged on for that "codpiece" - I've been blown away by the positive responses in my thread.

Hey, it is what it is. When I wore the suit to the Halloween party, half the people didn't notice the tightys, and the other half wouldn't have noticed if I had been wearing them on my head! (1977 = drunk stoners).

All in all, I'm proud of what I could do given the restrictions. Maybe I should re-create 3PO in foam....:love

The World's first cosplayer

There were others before him ...

And btw, if anyone wonders about it, the second thread on this has been merged into the original one. More fun, I´d say, especially with the media exposition this recently got ;)
