I'd like to make some of the isolinear rods used around DS9 but I'm having trouble locating info. Does anyone know:

  1. What was the thickness of the rod material?
  2. What length were the rods cut to?
  3. Any sources for the rod material?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The DS9 iso rods are amber color and vary as sulla said from 3/8 to 1/2 in dia. and also vary in length from 4 to 6 inches.

also they used gold pin stripe on these.

Gold and black and some were even smaller... Here's a couple pictures of screen used pieces I found via Google.

Hello,
I am a new member to this board and a major Star Trek fan, DS9 being my favorite!
While looking over some of the posts I came across this one and I am pleased to say that I am 99.9% sure that I have the info you want! I just can't for the life of me remember where or from whom I got this information!

[*] The thickness of the rod is 3/8"!

[*] There are two types/sizes of rods: 15cm (approx. 1 15/16") & 150cm (approx. 5 7/8") I am sure there are these two only but only someone with access to any screen used props would know for sure!

[*] I got my rod threw a local hobby shop, they ordered it from PLASTRUCT! The package lable is marked "AR-12, 3/8" Acrylic Rod, Part #92036". The package comes with 3 pieces 18" long!

I am not sure what the colors should be but I have seen pictures showing clear, orange and blue rod! What I did was spray paint a coat of tinted acrylic paints then clear coat the whole thing! The problem I made was using Future Floor Wax which gave them a misted appearance! One day I plan on cleaning them off and using a better clear coat!
Anyway, hope you find this helpful and best of luck, Petseal
