Dragoncon 2015

I plan on attending. May not break out the Guyver suit until Friday. Trying to decide.

I have added your name to the badge list, if you would like to have avatar (profile photo), please update your profile and also send a copy of your avatar to helpfulnerd. For he is the one making the badges this year. Thank you,

We can't wait to meet you...

Count me in for the meetup. Very cool to see other rpfers going to d*con. I felt lonely last year and didn't run into a single rpfer.

Here's my progress pic. Designing and printing the "exwife" for War Machine suit.

Also I found this at a Goodwill this past Sunday. It's missing the range finder, but it was only $2.97. I might be able to find the missing part on eBay. Maybe. I almost pee'd myself when I found it on the shelf. I went from being a 32 yr old man, to a 12 yr old boy in 2 seconds. #yoink #mine

I missed his the first time through. Did you find your r/f? I have a couple on hand from dismantling some of these bad boys for some of my own costuming work. Yours if you want one. I'll bring with. Here's where the first of my buckets is currently...

I ended up grabbing another one of the hasbro toy helmets (the same as the bucket I'm using that I snagged at Goodwill) and it came with the range finder that fits the helmet that I have. If you have an extra that would work better for the legit version of the helmet I'll gladly take one. My plan is to build the Mark II bucket that is more accurate than the toy helmet.

I basically went with the toy helmet because it's not horrible and it's what I had on hand. But I do want to update the helmet at some point in the future.

Thanks

Your bucket is coming along nicely!

Alright folks I got some updates.

Lanyards:

I went ahead and purchased the lanyards yesterday so that they arrive in time. If you are on the lanyard list and have not subbmitted your payment please check your messages, I have PM'd everyone with instructions on how to submit your $5.

Badges:

I will be doing another round of badge printing later tonight, and then I'll be caught up on badges for everyone who has sent me their avatar. If you are on the list and have not PM'd me please send me your avatar as soon as possible. Remember that the cut off for a custom badge WITH YOUR CHOSEN AVATAR is Aug 25th.

On a side note, my rocketeer jacket for my Bobateer cosplay arrived on Monday. What a relief considering I had to send back the first one because it was too small.

How goes your cosplay everyone? Good I hope. Can't wait to see you all, DragonCon is around the corner!!!

Looking forward to DragonCon this year. As usual I waited until the last minute to start on my costume. Lots to do, so little time!!!

I know this is kinda a dumb question but is there any particular days better to go in costume than others? At best ill have 2 costumes so just curious if more people dress up on like Sat/Sun vs Mon, etc.

In my opinion, Friday is a really good day, Saturday is the best day to bring out your best stuff, a lot of people come in for the parade and buy one day passes, and Sunday is a little less value then Friday in my opinion...That's what I've noticed... I could be wrong though...It's only my opinion and this year will be my 3rd year. So I'm still a little new...In my eyes...

It expands pretty much every year, since I started in '08. Friday night used to basically be a preview of Saturday, with the Marriott and Hyatt lobbies packed with folks in costume and pictures being taken everywhere. Then Thursday night became the new Friday night. Last time I went, in 2013, Wednesday night had become the new Friday night. *heh* So yeah. Every evening, as soon as you arrive, you can hang out -- in costume or just people-watching -- and cruise from Hyatt to Marriott to Hilton and back seeing who's out and generally trying to take it all in. But as MatrixSpoon said, above, Saturday is the big day for everyone who isn't already there to show up, and Sunday only marginally less so.

Whatever costume(s) you wear, make sure you've either got good visibility or a handler or two, or you're going to be struggling the whole time you're trying to swim through the crowd.

I have to agree on the whole handler point, especially depending on how hot or big your costume is...I had Helfulnerd help me a couple of times, sad thing is, that one costume my lens fogged up so bad I was behind him and I lost him in the crowd, then I almost passed out from heat exhaustion after walking around for an hour an a half. Lucky for me I stay at the Marriott and I was able to make it to my room and rip off the costume and cool down. My other costume, I had arrows sticking out of my back and heard a lot of people complaining about my arrows are going to stab someone in the eye, well like we all tell our kids watch where your going, right? But helpful nerd walked behind me for a good while protecting people and me...So like I stated earlier depends on your costume. Last year Hurleyfx's Groot had about 2-3 handlers...

Heres a little motivation for all my fellow cosplayers out there...If this doesn't help you then I don't know what to say...

Yeah Ive been debating even bringing my sword for my Edward Kenway costume since they stick out the back through the side scabbard. It wasnt too bad bumping into things/people at STL CC but im thinking it will be a bigger pain here.
