Dragoncon 2014

Question for all the veteran con goers...I plan on taking swords for one of my cosplays, I know I have to peace bonded them, the question is do you think I'll have any issues?...I have looked up many things about weapons policy, I have even emailed dragoncon...

I emailed Dragoncon this message:
The weapons policy states "Bladed weapons must be cased or sheathed at all times".

Does this mean it's ok if there real swords as long as they are peace bonded?
So they can't be opened? Just would like to be sure and be safe.

Dragoncon replied back:
Yes, and always check with Security when in doubt

you cant peace bond a sword not to open..... ive now been threw the peace bonding 9x this year lol... pretty much the only thing for peace bonding is to check and see it things can be used to actually hurt ppl.... my swords as we have talked baout matrix, they dont mind you taking them out and posing with them, you just cant ran around and swing them around or even show off any skills with them.... so pose and put them up lol... landscape for the badge as well..... also..... for all of rpf.. myself will be arriving thrus to help matrix with the meet and greet, also i will be getting in around 10-11am for a pre dragon con trip to sixflag... so just hit me up if you would like to join in on a rpf trip to six flags before the con on thrus... again my number is 706-949-85242... hit me up anytime

Back in 2012 I went with a friend, she had real swords and never had them peace bonded, I think as long as your respectful with them your fine . If they ask you to get them peace bonded do so, otherwise don't sweat it.

Sounds good. As popular as DragonCon has become we should have a pretty decent meet and greet this year! Also, is there something special I need to go to upload an avatar? I looked up some regs on it and it said that sometimes the moderators don't allow new members avatars. I was just wondering if there was a grace period I had to wait to load one because I don't even have the option in my settings.

I can't remember but you may have to have like 20 posts or something like that, then your not "new"...Also i will say they want the "size" of the file to be small, so they don't take up a lot of there memory space i suppose...

If anyone has an avatar that they would like to use for there badge, that is to big of a file for the rpf, you can always send it to me,...and i'll put it on your badge...

Hay Sapper36, you said badges...So i'm talking it you want two...one for yourself and one for your wife...Do you want the same avatar and name or would you like the same avatar and different names, or would you like different avatars and different names?...or do you want it to say "sapper36's wife Windy"....hahaha...

anyway you see what i'm getting at...sorry I just want it to be like how you like...

Ok, so here's what I have so far...I have 42 people so far on this list...This is the list of people that have said "I'm going"...please let me know if your going to make it to the RPF meet, to make sure your Badge will be made...also, I have listed the people that have avatars and those that don't...also, i have put everything in Alphabetical order to make it easier to find your name...if your name is not on the list, please let me know, so i can add you...In case you might want an avatar to make yourself, easier to be noticed...if your name is on the list and your not going to be able to make the meet, please let me know so I'm not making extra badges for people that are not going to make it...

Thats fine, I understand that there are people that don't use facebook, I'm just trying to cover all aspects, a lot of people don't check the rpf forums as much as other, on facebook it updates you on changes and things, were on here you have to sign out and read all the posts...

I have added you to the list....
 
i might be able to make the meet, I'm really not sure. I'm coming down with some buddies and it will be all of our first times at the con. I'm sure we're gonna be running around like our heads are chopped off. lol

Ha! Me too. This will be my first trip to DCon, and I have a feeling my head will swivel off it's axis from seeing all the amazing costumes. I just hope I can finish mine in time :rolleyes
