Dragoncon 2014

I'll be there for the first time ever. Going to be bringing my Spider-man costume. I know there will probably be a million of them there. I'm also thinking of bringing my Rory Williams and my Barbecue from GI JOE costume and my Ghostbuster costume.

Glad to have you joining us...

Something i thought of for all you first time Dragoncon goers, when your in the hotels they have really bad cell phone reception, most the time your cell phone will search for signal, and if you have a 4g phone that kills your battery fast, your best bet is to turn your phone to airplane mode.

That and bring a small charger with you, in case your phone dies, you still have a way to charge it to get in touch with your friends, when you get lost...and you will get lost...haha...

depends on the day, some days it's pancakes some days it's waffles...haha...

So, I'm late to the party, but I'm excited about the meetup. It's my 7th DragonCon. I'm in the Art Show this year for the 3rd time, so that's super exciting.
I'll be taking my Steampunk Baroness and hopefully finishing a Steampunk Ursula, and a Morrigan from Dragon Age Inquisition. I'm still working on those two though.
here's a picture of my Baroness from last year. It's based on a poster by Brian Kesinger IMG_4453.JPG

I would be more active in the conversation here but *BURIED IN COSTUME WORK AHGODNOTIME* however, I do look forward to seeing everyone there. :)

its all good, i know what you mean, working on 3 costumes, it looks like my Iron Man Mark 7 suit so close to being finished isn't going to make it in time for Dragoncon 2014, so sadly will have to make it 2015...:::tear:::

better late then never...glad to have you join us...can't wait to meet you...

oh man what a bummer on that one matrix! still 100 days to go everybody <3 I may end up in the same boat with one of mine not being finished in time. oh well there is always next year indeed. :)

I can't help but be slightly entertained by the differences between the DCon thread and the SDCC thread. Over here we're talking about what costumes we're going to wear and where we'll do all of our drinking. Over there it's all "Did anybody get a hotel?" "I didn't get a badge so I can't go."

That would be one of the major reasons I have no interest in ever trying to go to SDCC. DCon forever!

Anyway, I'm bringing 5 costumes again. But one is just for Dr. Horrible and the other is mostly for a photoshoot. Granted I still have to get that costume started... Stupid procrastination skills.

procrastination= always having something to do. lol. and if it makes everyone feel better my costumes will be done by dc.... not saying anyones names..... Matrix...... but hey buddy guess what i got a room at the marriot yay me 200 bucks for 4 days thrus-mon...... its good to have friends in the hotel business haha

I too sank my hopes and dreams into getting an SDCC badge again, which didn't happen...again...3 years running...le sigh....

Going to DragonCon this year seems pretty slim, even though financially it's possible...I didn't get in on the D*Con hotel train until it was too late. I had no idea it was as huge a deal as it is. Now my only option is finding a shared room that would welcome a man in his late 30's whom no one has ever met before. An altogether unlikely scenario...

Ah well. Maybe next year.

Yeah, the hotels fill up ridiculously fast, is why our group gets on badges and looking into hotel rooms for the next year nearly before the final day of con is even over xD
As for everybody in the procrastination/waiting on materials/cant afford the fabric yet train like me, GOOD LUCK TO US ALL ;D lol

Truth be told, "Becoming a part of a group that goes to D*Con" seems like an insurmountable obstacle because I don't personally know anyone who goes. Sure there's a lot of internet people who "know me", but they may as well be figments of my imagination IRL. I'm sure with time it will get less intimidating, but for right now I just get the impression that adding one more friend to a group is too many.

My group is a modpodge of people from all over, who come together and see each other only once a year for the most part at dragoncon (except for a third of the group is actually from the same area so they see each other far more often) xD so those internet people could become your group! We've got people from three different states coming together and piling into three hotel rooms each year at this point haha. So you might end up with a group like ours out of your internet folks, ya never know. :)

Hey Bayouwolf, shoot me a PM regarding the room. Mine is currently full, but two of the people are potentially not going to make it.

Lucianthinus i called you... jsut for the heck of it and you totally ignored me :p now im sad ha ha
Sorry was busy workin, didn't even realize I'd had a call. I tend not to catch calls because my phone is usually on silent lol don't be sad, most people have trouble getting a hold of me. Which is why text based communication with me is easier as everyone claims to me, cause i'll see it eventually xD

So are there plans to have a meetup, or is it sort of a "I'll be at the Pulse, come find me" situation we had a few years ago? I'd love to have a more format meet-and-greet. But escaping that, of COURSE I'll be at the Pulse :D

The plans so far are that we are going to meet on the Skyline level of the Marriott and then move to the pulse once we all are together...this will give everyone the chance to talk and actually hear one and other, then after that...get there drink on...

I'm the one working on making "badges" for everyone...if you have an ideas...
