Hello, new member here, though not new to costuming.
I'm starting on a Dr. Kate Corrigan costume, I'm going for the look of her outfit from "Almost Colossus" and at the end of "Wake the Devil" with some nods to the Hellboy movie thrown in there. This is the first time I'll be doing a costume that hopefully won't involve heaps of sewing, but since it focusing more on the accessories that I will have to buy, I'm hoping I can get some feedback.
Sadly I can't find a pictures online of that particulate outfit, so I'll have to scan it it in later if anyone wants further reference, but here are some other picture I found online that give you and idea of her style. (clicky!) I bought a jacket which I think will work, (at the price it was at I couldn't go wrong) It will be big on me, I know, but hers looked a little oversized on her in that story, and if not... well the boyfriend can wear it. :lol
the rest of her outfit that I'm going to try to get together, based on what I've seen her wear in the comics I have, is
belt with pouches (leather would be a nice nod to the movie, but price might prohibit that.)
hoop earrings
turtle neck shirt or military shirt
rosary
military style shoulder bag or backpack (
dark jeans or military pant, I honestly can't tell which she wearing most of the time.
military boots. Not sure what cut or style.
I'm missing a large part of jut the B.P.R.D comics she's in, my fascination had been mostly with just the Hellboy comics, so if there is some all important item I am missing feel free to correct me.
Next I'm eying up the patches and a belt buckle, and I was wondering if anyone here could tell me how the ones you see on eBay rate as far as quality? I'm looking at at least two white patches for the coat, and possibly a red on for a bag.
The next thing that has me stimed is I'm probably going to have to buy a prop gun, I have have no idea how to go about find out what model the artist might be trying to represent, or were to find descent quality prop guns that match. tips?
Sorry i I sound like such a noobie, I've not had to deal with props like this before in a outfit.
