A base was made for the helmet with cardboard.
The cardboard was then stiffen with epoxy and bondo to
add strength and thickness. The base will need more work to
get it smooth.

The base is smoothed and sealed.
The helmet is then attached to the board to start the clay layer.

The helmet is wrapped in plastic. This is so its easy to remove the clay from the helmet.

The clay layer progress. The clay is a place holder for the rubber, to be poured later.

Only worked on 1 of the helmets.
Sanded and final primer coat completed.
A little rushed , but couldn't wait to get some gold paint on the helmet. Ready for some test paint. A small sample was ordered:
Egyptian Gold Firemist - Urethane Metallic , thought it was appropriate, considering the Dr. Fate character background.

The paint arrived today and was applied.
It is a automotive grade paint
( Egyptian Gold Firemist - Urethane Metallic Basecoat) so it was sprayed with a HVLP paint gun. This is just the base coat,
so the clear top coat will be applied later.

There is not a large volume run.
I'll be offering these fully finished via wait list on my FB page.

I'm such a Bonehead! I realized that when i was working on a graphic for the Dr. Fate helmet , i have missed a detail on the helmet.
I left out the arc under the eye of Ra. In my first hard copy , i had it. But when i ripped the helmet apart to fix the symmetry issue, i forgot it.
So, now, i am working on the arc detail using some sheet plastic.
I will need to make a mold of it so i can add it to the helmet cast later. Uggggg!

So here the missing arc under the eyes is done and glued
to the master helmet. Next is to sand and blend it in.
