This one shows the hook up front (but not attached to the bottom part, so this might give a wrong view. Maybe pitbull can clarify?):

Also the hook seen in the thread for the stand (http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=250896) seems to be OK. (Free advertising for the stand, BTW ;) )

Maybe a question to everybody who received their hook: can you post here if it's straight up, or with an angle? Really want to know about all others...

Received mine today. I was one of the lucky ones I guess. The box itself was in horrible shape but the hook inside was fine. I'm starting to wonder if the dents happened at the factory itself

Anyways, here is a pic of the hook. Mostly straight but still angled at the top a bit

Actually upon looking at mine from the "front" view, the angle looks worse than the previous picture shown. Guess they all angled a bit

How do we polish our Hooks to make them pristine?
I would advice you to try polishing a small part on top of the bottom part, first. Since it's chromed, you might polish off the chrome. If that happens on the top, it won't be noticable when you attach the hook. Don't know how thick the chroming is. If it's fairly thick, you should be able to polish out small scratches nicely, I guess... I used this for some REALLY small scratches, and that worked fine:

It's some kind of universal metal polishing compound. Works great on brass, but also on the hook. But I guess this is only sold in Belgium.

I think the only way to remove the scratches would be to use a buff wheel.. I don't have one myself, so nevermind. But it would be the only way for deep ones.

Thats true. I have a few spots that seem to have the chrome rubbed off either that or the chrome process didnt take to the part of my hook

I used a Dremel buffing wheel and buffing compound for chrome carefully on mine with no ill effects. I did not try to completely remove the deep scratches but it sure helped the minor ones.

If you were heavy-handed you could certainly buff through the plating.
