DONE! Test build (a slow one): Star Trek U.S.S. Grissom

So I've not only been tapped to pull this monster for kits, but I've been tapped to test build one as well (no lights though).

I know that I have other projects and a few other builds going on so that is why I say that this is a slow build. There are seven days in a week and I have no problem scheduling them out.

Some of these parts will be replaced, there are a few that are missing, and there are some of them I've already worked on.

Did some work on the parts to this tonight. Not all of them are done but I wanted to get some better pics up.

Here are some pics that show more detail.

I worked on a few more, but I want to spread out my time with all the stuff I am working on, so that's it until the next update.

The company that is producing it is called Bigger Box Models (I think).

We're looking to start pulling kits by the end of August. We are waiting on a big pressure pot and a rotocasting machine.

What scale will this be?
Based on the picture of the guy holding it (on your link) it looks decently sized.

Well, I got some more work done in this. Woot!

Fixed the corners on the cut out part there.

Still a bit more clean up before I put these two parts together, which will happen tonight.

I didn't think that much of it before I started building it, but now I love it too.

More work done tonight.

Added an inner lip to one half of the hull. Sorry for the odd pick, my camera is loco.

When putting the two halves of the hulls together, you must clamp these.

Both halves of the hulls have been put together and I've started to puddy them...Puddy is my buddy:

Last but not least, we have the Nacelles that Sam pulled tonight (Woot). I will start working on these soon!

Thanks guys. I have a small update. I still have a house full of family, but I was able to get some work done.

I finished the Nacelles:

I'm hoping to have a few hours tomorrow night to get more work done so that is all I have for now.

I've been working under cover on this.

So, if you want to work on this:

You will need this:

Trust me. Get some of these, it will save you a ton of time. A regular puddy knife is worthless on this part. Here are my result from the bodo applicator:

I've also worked on this part and noted the problem areas in the curve. Please note that I caused the problem area with my sanding, therefore I will rebuild with no problem. I found these areas by running my hand over the part.

So, for the big lower part, I cut out the backside:

Did some filling and sanding, but this part is not done yet:
