Don Robert's Tron Legacy

Anyone know of a good resource for this rubber material in the states? Have a few requests for Legacy suites and this stuff looks fantastic!

Does the Sam suit have actual EL tape? Or is that just colored reflective tape? Looks awesome btw!!

they say its called minicell L-200 in the US. but here, we just call it rubber - those used to make shoe soles & flip flops. :)

They call it "rubber;" We call it Polyethylene foam.

It's the sheets of craft foam you find at craft stores.

Definitely NOT the same as craft foam. Craft foam tears like paper.

Okay, Crosslinked Polyethylene is not the same as EVA Foam. EVA is a lighter density. Polyethylene is the foam in the roll up camping bed mats.
Same family, different densities.

DANG!!! I want! Wish I would have known about this "rubber" material when I made my 1st Quorra build which was out of craft foam. Needless to say, not wearing it anymore, completely falling apart now even with the top layer of matte vinyl I layered over it.

DO NOT USE CRAFT FOAM to build those Tron suits ppl. Save your energy and time. Use this Polyethylene foam stuff instead if you can get your hands on it! :)

They say its similar to L-200. I really can't tell or say because I haven't seen what you guys have there. I tried looking at pics but really can't see any difference.

if tears like paper, then its not the same as what we use. :)
I am also interested in what type of acrylic emulsion you used. I'm new to prop building :)

Rubber, foam, either way stuffs amazing. Definately going this route! Thanks for the info sheet!

:thumbsup

Wow..thats very slick.
Im always amazed at the great body-tight fit and seemingly-seemless flow between the various panels on Roberts creations...

Still would like to know the brand of acrylic emulsion he uses so I can try to find an equivalent here in Australia :)

Thanks Don you are a champ, I love showing off your costume photo's to my mates uber jealous cosplayers over here

izabel do you have patterns of the pieces you made that you could upload pics of? If so please do, they could really help a lot of us on here lol.
