Don Robert's Tron Legacy

Well, it's a bit too late but heck we're still doing it since we already started on it. :lol

We were suppose to have this done for the premiere but due to the Holiday season and all the happenings that has happened we were short in time. :confused

Robert wanted to do a full suit rather than the spandex with sewn reflector tapes. besides it would look better that way.

So here are his progress pics. Not yet done. Mine is on the way. We're planning to launch this January - hopefully - for 2011's 1st con. :cool

Looks great so far! (Though I'd recommend posting the images a little smaller. It's hard to get a sense of the costume when it's blown up so large.)

What material are you using for the armour? Is that foam latex? Silicone?

Hi! This is looking awesome! Just wanted you to clarify, what type of rubber? Latex rubber? Neoprene rubber? because that really does look closer to neoprene foam rubber. Craft foam looks very much like what you are using too but it is very fragile and quite flimsy on its own.

Thanks for your help! :)

they say its called minicell L-200 in the US. but here, we just call it rubber - those used to make shoe soles & flip flops. :)

Wow using that rubber is such a good idea. I was going to make a Tron Legacy outfit this year but decided to wait a few months to start. I like what direction you guys are going with this and look forward to seeing your progress. Question about your armor-Are you just gluing sheets together to crate the layers? Sorry if that's a dumb question but I am very new to all of this

Looks real good so far but is'nt that helmet Rinzler's? I'm planning to make the Daft Punk Tron Helmets, I just think those costumes look cooler than what they normally wear. Then I might do a Rinzler outfit just don't know yet to many projects but good luck on yours.

im probably going to do something similar, still waiting on el wire to come in. have 30 feet on the way :D

probably going to use plastidip over the armor once its done. just havent decided on what kind of foam/rubber to use yet.

price and workability come into play.

never worked with foam though. work with alot of sheet metal and fiberglass stuff though on cars. so it shouldnt be to hard.

any tips guys?

Oh yes... this is looking AWESOME! I've been REALLY wanting to do a Rinzler costume and this is goood inspiration for me!

go for it!

lookin good! mam izabel may i ask what lighting technique will don robert use for the suits?

we're just going to use reflector tape. we'll try to look for a flourescent paint if there's some available here :)

ah. I think motor parts retailers here in the Philippines have those small lights maybe Don Robert could try using one of those? :)

actually, its just suppose to be for a 1 time stint but because we just don't settle for less we try to make it a little better than the average. we'll see how it turns out in the end. :rolleyes

Its build threads like this that get me to want to overcome my hesitations on making a TRON costume. I can't wait to see how this turns out, very interesting method. How do you plan on dealing with the lights?
