Does anyone here do metal casting?

As many know from other thread, the missing piece of my LOTR Strider sword is driving me insane - I was curious if a mold of the remaining piece could be made, and then an aluminum, steel, whatever casting could be made from it...

I could do it in pewter, but as much as I need the money, it honestly wouldn't be worth the price you'd have to pay for the mold, mold cutting, and pewter ingot.

It's too bad I don't work at the street light factory anymore. I could sand mold it real quick and cast in aluminium for free. :( Sorry.

Hey, its cool - at least you've shown me that it IS possible, I just need to find someone with the capabilities...

Yeah sand casting is the way to go, fast and for one piece. No sense spending the money on a proper mold, plus you can do it in aluminum.
Bronze would be good too. Bronze is tough stuff!
You could always plate it to match the other piece too, whatever metal it is in.

Also, have you tried the manufacturer? Perhaps they can send you the missing piece? (for a fee, no doubt) or it can be machined in aluminum (expensive) or done with lost wax and a plaster mold...
Many possibilities, depends on your budget of money and time.

Good luck!

honestly dood, for the UC strider sword..... i think itd be cheaper just to buy another one and scrap the one you have..
