Doctor Who: Time Agent's Vortex Manipulator *SPOILER*

I've got an original circle button from the cell phone, it's slightly smaller than the 3d print, but I might be able to cast a few...no promises

buckle!

I was thinking that we'd use actual watch bands for that part, and I left a hole for it.

I'll leave both options, plus the option to not have the injection molding marks I didn't add the seam across the two parts either

Definitely :thumbsup for no seam, but could go either way on the injection marks. I guess without would be smoother. As soon as you've got one with the bar for sale I'll be ordering it, probably with a new set of buttons if you've got the larger ones up for sale. The actual band on the manipulator is a piece of leather folded around the bar on the buckle and riveted. I don't normally use leather watch bands, do they use the same pins metal bands do? Seams a little weird to me.

should these be metal or plastic. I'm not sure why but they seem expensive in metal. maybe I'm using more material than I thought, but they're ending up costing like $18 just for the buckle, which seems high

mmm I just checked the dimensions and these are bigger than I thought. is it really 7/8" between the two sides, and 15/16" long? those are the measurements i was given so it's what I used and I'll make it that if that's right, but it jsut feels big. wanna check it again for me just in case?

Those are the correct measurements. I'd be willing to bet that they cast the toy buckle directly off an original. I've looked everywhere for that buckle with no luck, it's not a commercially available piece. It looks slightly oversized (and I do mean SLIGHTLY) on the toy, but we know the toy is undersized.

And metal for sure. If you were just going to make it in plastic I'd just cut the plastic one off the toy. $18 isn't bad, a regular buckle that size can cost up to $10 and this one is completely accurate.

if you notice in the pics, that bar is certainly not attached. you can see that there is a hole all the way through to make the bar removable. i'll be posting both optoins, but for accuracy sake, i think having the bar separate is better, and for functionality sake, it's better to have the bar permanently attached.

we need to move this to an interest/sale thread

Feel free to start one, I'll still use this thread for my build progress.

As for the bar, the best option, which is most in line with the way buckles like these are designed, would be an attached bar that has a small narrow section in the middle for the prong to wrap around.

Also, which pics are you talking about?

Have you guys moved this to a sale/interest thread yet? I'm interested, but it depends on what's going into it... Will it be the entire VM -- working/not?

Thanks!

Jen

Has this been moved or added as an interest/sale thread? If so what is the link? You all are amazing! I wish I had a talent for creating props, it's always been a dream but I am all thumbs shaky ones at that. lol

Thanks,

By forum rules, zenix can't link the sale thread. Go have a look through the junkyard and you'll find it.

I finally grabbed a leather hide that matches the darker, more used version. Here it is on the right, with the brand new looking lighter brown leather on the left.

I bought a prong as well, which I'll attach to the buckle once the bar and the buckle itself get here. The correct snaps are on their way as well. Just need to find an accurate brass grill and I'll have everything.

dam another thing to buy will keep a eye on this

off topic my abbyshot Captain Jack Harkness Coat has been shipped will post pic as soon as it arrives
