Doctor Who: Time Agent's Vortex Manipulator *SPOILER*

OK, so we're starting a new thread so as not to highjack anybody else's.

So let's get this thing started. I got my Samsung keyboard in the mail yesterday and the button is exactly 16 mm with the border included. there's a small logo on it, but the chromed piece comes out and it should be really easy to either buff that off or paint over it without damaging the chrome.

It also looks like Jack's (or more likely a very similar) VM appears in The Big Bang, so here's a grab of it.

There's a much clearer shot of it a couple frames later, but VLC is a worthless piece of **** and it doesn't support frame by frame. I'll try to grab a better frame later. Basically it looks like a much easier job than Jacks because the cover flap has been removed. It also makes it very obvious that the flap was attached by snaps and not rivets and OFF the main body piece containing the manipulator. The manipulator itself has black buttons and what might actually be a screen instead of the brass grill, but I can't tell for sure.

Re: Doctor Who: Time Agent's Vortex Manipulator

Maybe I'm being uptight, but can we add "*SPOILER*" to the title of this thread? Some of us here in the states are on BBC America's time...

Edit: Not worth my time.

Re: Doctor Who: Time Agent's Vortex Manipulator SERIES 5 FINALE SPOILER

TheDoctor: I added a spoiler warning to the thread title, sorry about that.

Birdie: PM on it's way.

Replied. Been having problems with the net today. If you didn't get it, lmk, I'll resend it.

I'm not familiar with previous uses of the prop, so I'm curious, is the centerpiece a found item?

Got it.

Now, other reference of Vortex Manipulator's have a cover that snaps on. Is that present on this version? I see the snaps, but no cover.

Oh, ok, if they used Hart's manipulator prop that makes sense.

I'm not planning on copying one or the other, I just posted that picture because the episode was in HD and it's the second time we ever got a good look at the thing. Both of them look cool, but I'll be making Jack's. of course, it could easily be converted into this one by snapping off the cover flap.

Ah, cool! You always seem to have something awesome on the go. I love it when found items are part of the actual props used.

Great to see this being worked on again, I always liked this device :) I have the CO version pre-ordered somewhere right now but if someone can get these going and out by august sometime I'd rather this. Will be following progress for sure :love

Will be watching this fo'sho'. Dan, if you need any help or anything, just throw a PM my way.

I did notice that the flap was removed too. Also, are the buttons black on Jack's VM too? I could have sworn they were silver.

As for it being a screen, I did notice that but I couldn't figure it out. I need to go back and re-watch it.

This VM along with a fez would be great props for a "The Big Bang" #11 cosplay costume.

yep, it was great to see this prop being used again.....I'd love an accurate version of it, Jack's or John's. I bought the toy version in the hope that I could use the computer part and use real leather instead, but never got around to doing it. I had a local leather worker knock up the leather face/strap but was never 100% happy with it......

Do you have any pictures?

I would have made one a long time ago if this was technically leather work, but it's all garment leather and much harder to work with.

I'm looking for the buckle now, shouldn't take long to find as it's pretty unique and the toy got it just about right.

if theres interest i can make a run of these in resin, and have it shipped to you all in under a month from today
