no. i dont know if i'm going to do it. i looked at the model and i'm not sure how much thinner to make it, so for now, same model, just with the round button attached.

since the originals buttons were the same color, not black, could you open the option to get that in stainless as well?

I'm pretty sure the buttons on the original were black painted silver, or possibly primed with black then painted silver on account of the wear it received over the course of the show showing some black through. I can't remember where those pictures were, but stainless would still be a cool option for those that want it.

I think I'm sold on the stainless, now I just have to get some frivolous spending courage. I just dropped $300 on my Scott Pilgrim shirt run today.

Okay so i adjusted the buttons to be able to be printed in stainless steel. i'd love to see pictures of the steel one whenever you guys get them. they're pretty good about getting the stuff out. metal takes 14 days to be printed and sent to you. i showed my mom the rings and earrings and stuff today, she likes.

I can't decide on whether to get the buttons in black or stainless. From the posted screencaps, it seems like stainless for Jack's and black for the Doctor's is the way to go.

I sanded with 320 and then 1000 to get that shine. I've seen some other person on shapeways do 200, 400,600,800 and then 1000 amd it looks like a mirror.

OK, it took me a while, but I finally placed my order. I'll take pics when it gets here and again after I've sanded it and put in the buttons.

I received the package, but it was just the black buttons. I guess the stainless will ship separately.

yea, they do that. 10 days for plasticy stuff, 14 for metal and 21 for glass. i think its bad business for them... they should include it all in one shiipment at the latest date so they save on shipping.

Got the metal part, pictures will come soon, maybe later tonight if I can stay awake that long, just got back from a road trip. First thoughts: The metal piece is fantastic, really excellent. However, the buttons are quite a bit too small. They don't fit snugly at all, too thin. Hopefully the pictures will show what I mean.

OK, here it is. I've sanded the thing for a few hours with 120 grit trying to get the pitting out since I took these pictures. The pitting is really deep, which makes it really difficult to clean up. I think I beveled some of the edges in by accident before I started wrapping the paper around a credit card to keep it flat. It's going to be tricky to smooth out the LED window. Notice in the flash picture you can see how much smaller the buttons are than the sockets. Zenix, is there any chance you can upsize the buttons a little bit so they fit better?

nice. looks great. I can increase the size... I was worried about clearance. I'll halve the clearance between the buttons and opening. or should I be more aggressive? are you planning on polishing the metal? your round button is better than mine. neat inclusion of the found part.

I may not polish it, but I will sand it up to at least 500 grit. I think more aggressive is the answer. I didn't measure it, but it looks to me like at least 1 mm of space (maybe 2) in each dimension that needs to be filled.
