Doctor Who opinions

Even though Moffat was perhaps a weaker writer as showrunner than he was under Davies I feel that Moffat's tenure was stronger overall. The I can't think of a Moffat-era episode that was anywhere as bad as "Fear Her" or "Love and Monsters." I've said it before, but Davies was also way too dependent on poorly executed deus ex machina resolutions to the finales; Moffat's finales felt like less of asspulls to me with how things were resolved, and he didn't get mired in making the threat increasingly bigger every year.

Still, change is good and maybe now the internet can enjoy the show again, or at least find something new to bitch about. Thankfully they didn't give it to Mark Gatiss.

As much as I can't stand Moffatt and his gimmicks, I felt that this last season was, in many ways, his best

So basically we're not getting any new episodes til 2017 (except the Christmas one?) What is up with that??? I mean c'mon! Why does the BBC do that? This is a popular show, they should be doing it every year and not make us wait all the time! Maybe they need to bring it over here to the states and let us film the thing! At least then we'd make sure that there was a new episode all the time! I just don't understand the seasons in the UK.

I was hoping this wasn't true and that my mate was just pulling my leg.
I to hope Capaldi sticks around and that Chibnal writes a much darker Who for him.
Hellbent should have been much darker and epic, the boat was really missed with that story.

Besides he can't leave yet I have only just got all my costume together!

I would point out that alot of effort and misdirection went into telling us Clara had gone. She then most definitely came back only to fly away again in HER OWN TARDIS!!!
So ,whilst I am very willing to believe that Mr Moffat will leave DR WHO I have a very bad feeling that a Clara WHAT series will probably be announced shortly before /after his actual departure. The "And I will be thrown out on the scrap heap" comment he makes sounds a bit "milady doth protest too much" to me, and I doubt the BBC would want to risk upsetting him that badly, given the "Sherlock" aspect. It wouldn't be too hard to see two versions of the program in existance ,like "Torchwood", a more serious return to the older type of Dr WHO story and then the Oswald /You panto.
I did think it rather odd the way she was suddenly brought back, and the fact they went to all that trouble to ensure that she got her own time machine seems a bit of a giveaway now. They do seem to need another production to fill in the timetable over at BBC Wales.

No, I don't think that bringing Doctor Who to film in America is a good idea. It's a British show and should stay that way. However the people in charge should get their heads out of their butts.

Remember the writers strike,.....that didn't happen in the UK.....every show was effected in the US,.....a major inconvenience for the rest of us

I'd say its because of falling viewing figures,....lowest in 10 years.....Its just hit a time for restructuring

....we have 4 seasons in the UK,...its currently Winter

I hope Capaldi sticks around for at least another season. That's all I want.
I agree, but I want to see him in at least one full season in which The Doctor is the lead character. I think it would be a shame for him to leave now that he's finally being allowed to show what he can do with the role.

Our long, temporal nightmare is over!

In seriousness, I think Moffat has moments of genius, but more as an individual writer of isolated episodes. He needs people to rein him in, and he tends to be given to fanfic-esque tendencies otherwise.

That said, Capaldi has done much to elevate Moffat's writing/showrunning, and I really, really hope he sticks around for at least a season under Chibnall and with his "own" companion, preferably one who isn't inherited from Moffat.

I enjoyed Broadchurch, but I am concerned that the article I read said Chibnall is another Dr Who fan.

He's written about half a dozen episodes for the Tenth and Eleventh Doctor and was the head writer of Torchwood, he also helped save the show in the mid 1980's. He's a lifetime supporter and fan.

If every episode was on the level as or greater than Heaven Sent, which I thought was really great, they can take as much time as they need to get that season done.

Yes, it's all real. I'm not sure how to feel, but I think that next series will be the best of all modern Doctor Who since they have double the time they usually have, I'm very much looking forward to it and will miss Steven Moffat's work and writing on the series, which I, personally, think as one of the best to have ever written for anything related to Doctor Who since it's conception. He will be remembered fondly, I'm sure.

Steven we told you time and again to quit sneaking on here and leaving positive reviews for yourself. :lol

Latest articles have also said that when Steven leaves it'll likely be a new start so I'm guessing we'll have a new Doctor by 2018 as well, which is a shame really as I think Peter Capaldi is one of the best Doctors we ever had.

Well if they are going to move in a new direction it only makes since for the next Doctor to be a yank. And the 13th Doctor should be me. I will expect you all to support my run for the 13th Doctor and only have good things to say about it. (I'm looking at you Dan). :D
