Doctor Who New Cyberman Helmet

As a huge Dr Who fan I was really excited to see the new design of the Cybermen in some recently released set photos of the 2013 series. Almost immediately I started thinking how great it would be to be able to make the helmet as a personal project, now I have scratch built things in the past like my X-Men First Class Magneto helmet, but this is a different beast and I wanted to do it right. I began chatting with Curtis (Biggeek1972) whom some of you will recognise from his brilliant 3D work on his amazing Flash cowl, between us we discussed putting together an accurate model that will hopefully end up being 3D printed and then finished and cast by myself. At the moment we are really in the gathering good reference stage so we would greatly appreciate any input on that side of things. I look forward to sharing the progress on this project as it develops, here's a peek at what I'm on about :cool

Yeah I noticed that, maybe just a walk through before a take, also the cybermen arm gun looks like it retracts into the arm so maybe they were swapping over forearm parts? Love this design

Eeeexcellent. I like that they've gotten rid of the bell-bottom trouser and Pop-eye forearm look though the torso on this new design seems a bit bland in comparison. But overall it's a much sleeker design and I really like it!

I'm excited to see what you guys come up with!

I think this helmet will be fun to model looks much more like an Iron Man-ish helmet now just need another pic or 2 to get good details.

I think this new design nicely blends elements of 'the invasion' cybermen with a more open 'tomb/wheel in space' type mouth and arm tubing, with the armoured appearance of the cybus version, can't wait to hear if there's a new voice!

My first impression was 'hey tony stark got in on that lucrative cybermen action.' Just something about the torso. Cool though! Good luck on the build!
