Doctor Who - Bessie - Super Drive

I wonder if I could call on the collective genius of the RPF on behalf of a friend... The Doctor's 70s roadster Bessie sported this Super Drive addition in The Time Monster. Finding what it was made from is proving difficult.

Anyone recognise what this red and silver section is made from? Thanks for any help.

from that angle, you can't really tell how big it is, could just be something the bbc prop guys whipped up, with a nice faceplate.
