Interest Doctor Who 12th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver, Confession Dial & Sonic Stand

Well this will be an unlimited run so people can jump in and grab it whenever they want once it's finished. The only thing that will be limited is the number of completed sonics I'll offer if I can do so - which I'll scroll through this thread and find everyone who expressed interest to let them know when that thread is up so no one misses out!

I also put together an animation showing all the exploded parts going together but it didn't turn out the way I wanted so I'm going to have another go at it.

good idea :) I'm in for a full sonic and maybe full kit :)

Here's a quick animation I threw together of all the parts being assembled. This is pretty much how everything will go together on the final version with some minor tweaks. I'll probably put together something similar for the electronics components when the time comes.

Work on the light board is just about finished, the other member is going to send it along shortly and I'll be building the rest of the housing around it - then soon after I'll be able to order a prototype and get all the details worked out!

i want this ........

i need this ........

when it gets released i will notify my friends here in Western Australia and may order up to 3 kits or so.

Awesome! Shouldn't be too long now. After the X-Mas episode I'll post some side-by-sides with screenshots from the episode and get some additional thoughts on things that need tweaking, which worked wonders for the 8th Doctor Dark Eyes sonic. Seriously, that thing improved ten-fold due to the feedback received so I hope we can do the same with this one! While it won't be quite as simple as implementing the core from the BYOS I'm working with the other member to make it as seamless as possible.

Absolutely in for the whole shebang. Will probably do the kit, but I might be interested in a completed one, depending on what the final tally comes to on that.

Would love to CNC some of those parts, but as you say, sounds like it would take some additional tolerance work.

Nick Robatto is also coming out with a replica of this screwdriver soon.

That's the RubberToe one, right? Or is he releasing his own? I mean either way it'll be equally gorgeous and expensive - the catch 22 of the prop world...

Nick made the new one as well the 11th version, so I reckon they will be pretty accurate. Also, the rubbertoe one on the facebook shows a green light and not a blue and Nick indicated in the comment it might be green and blue.

Yeah, I was under the impression that Nick made the new one specifically to be more easily replicated for the Rubbertoe replicas coming out. I was just confirming that the one that Bluebox was referring to was indeed the same one that Nick had designed for replication and not some other version.

As for the green light, that's literally 2 seconds worth of of video Rubbertoe posted on their page that shows the slow pulsing green light. We've seen in the show and on promo material that the actual sonic light is blue by default (or at least that's all we've seen thus far in the series and official material) and I've postulated that the green is specifically for the X-Mas episode airing in a few days - or at the very least, a strong nod to the 11th's sonic. I generally don't read into outside speculation on props and storylines until I see episodes that confirm them, if that's any indication of my lack of enthusiasm about the green lol.

But personally, I don't see them using the green lights much beyond that since it doesn't work with the design of the sonic over all. Blue is cool and complimentary to the design while green is something that we'll probably only see in one episode - maybe two.

i saw an image that indicates that there might be a red light too....

Are you referring to the prototype artwork? That article is a tad behind - that artwork has been around since the beginning of December but they've written their article like it just popped up yesterday - which is a bit misleading.

I mean, it's possible that it has a red mode like the 11th's and River's but unless there's a screenshot of the actual prop showing it, I think that red light was only in the prototype design and I'm guessing Capaldi saw it, gave that a big fat "nope" and that's when Nick redesigned the whole thing with blue lights instead. Capaldi did mention in an interview that he saw the prototype and gave them a bunch of suggestions on what to change.

Hi,

Excellent work - It's always a marvel to see how people take a couple of on screen glimpses and limited number of images to develop things so quickly.

Please sign me up for the static Confession Dial, Sonic Screwdriver Kit and Port Stand Kit.

Thanks (and festive greetings!)
