Doc's foam/fiberglass work + Mark 42 painted pieces

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6 boots

Got a noob question! How do you know what the angels are on each piece?

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6 boots

Hey Doc! I just did a test print for the helmet using Sharkhead v2.1 . Is there any numbers I need to change or is it just trial and error? I want the helmet to fit snug and not look to big! Thanks

What I do is use the "measure distance between two points" option in pepakura designer. So just measure say for example from top of your head to bottom of chin then use the measuring tool and point to the exact same area you just measured. It will save ya time from building until ya find right size. Hope that helps ya:)

To get to that option just right click on 2-D side and menu will pop up and its right at the bottom. just have to convert inches into mm which 1"= 25.4mm

Ok just did a measurement of the circumference of the helmet on file, and it looks like its about 27.84 inches. Now my head is 22.5 inches. If I'm doing a Fiberglas helmet with foam on the inside will this helmet be to big? If so, how do I scale it down? Thanks

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6 boots

let me open that file real quick n what thickness of foam ya think youl put in?

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6 boots

I'm not sure. I'm all new to this! Is it just preference on the thickness off foam!

i wouldnt use nothin thicker than 3mm foam also depends if your going to put electronics in it to so if ya are drop it to like 25" so nothin will bother/hit your face or head and pull hair out like servo powered hinges lol, but if not drop it down to 24 for enough room to put fiberglass mat n foam and I know what ya mean dont want ya to look like a bobble head :lol hope that helps:)

Ok thanks for all your help. I think I'm starting to get it. One mor quick question! Do I go into the parts layout to scale it down?

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6 boots

I think I got it. I just scaled it down 10 percent. From what I got it should be about 24.44". Thanks Doc!

lol thanks ultramantaro... you know what when I first started I thought the same way but I figured out the problem. It was I was trying to build fast and glue fast. But now I take my time to do nice clean cuts and glue seams together. So my advice is just slow things down when glueing press the pieces together n hold it till it grabs. Ya might think your going slow but trust me it'll save ya tons of time trying to fix it later. Goodluck:)
