Your gloves look awesome!! Do you have the files for it?!?

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6, 7 and now 3 boots

Question... Do you rondo/bondo the whole piece? DOes it add a bunch more weight to each item. I am a noob to the whole build hobby and am currently working on a Sentinel. Ihave most of the armor built and am just waiting on finishing the legs and then its time to seal.... I have heard of people using bondo to do the seams, I have the plasti dip, But i will forgo the plastidip if there is a better method out there... Your stuff looks amazingly realistic and that is what I want!

Any hints and tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

thanks and I shared exactly how i do it with out rondo. If ya never used rondo before I dont recommend it. But heres my other method
i used this step
1. heatseal with heatgun
2. 1 coat watered down elmers
3. 2 light coat modpodge
4. 1 coat bulldog adhesion promoter
5. primer
6. paint
7. clearcoat and put bulldog adhesion promoter after to give it more flex

Also for hiding seams is to take your time glueing andmake sure the pieces are tight together like this example of piece for a customer I just finished.

That is a very nice gauntlet. Good job!

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6, 7 and now 3 boots

the gauntlet does look amazing! I will try these steps and give you feed back... i appreciate it. I have never used a heat gun.... I will investgate further and give it a go, the rest sounds easy.... i did coat 1 piece before with the watered down elmers.. the popped it with plastidip. Do you recommed a thread that has a how to heat gun?

Thanks again... sorry for all the noobish questions.

Thanks man n I dont mind answering questions thats how we all learn. As for the heat gun I got mine at harbor freight for like 9 bucks and all ya do go over it and you'll see little sparkles on it. It just helps the sealing process to get a better finish:)

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6, 7 and now 3 boots

after clearcoat....

Very awesome!...

Hey Doc, I know your Mk VII isn't done yet but if I remember correctly you have a foam Mk IV, right?

Anyways, I was wondering if that suit used this same technique or if this technique is something that you have just been developing as you go.

Re: foam with rondo+ new foam mark 8 glove and mark 6, 7 and now 3 boots

Thanks Darkside, as for the Mk VI..I used these step on the suit. It gave it an awesome finish. That bulldog stuff is amazing but kinda expensive like 17.00 bucks a can but its worth it. Like heres another example of a pair of gloves I painted for a customer below. I dont use plasti-dip no more and try to stay away from rondo due to the toxic fumes that both linger around and can get awesome finish without. And all ya guys can too if ya follow these steps

1. heatseal with heatgun
2. 1 coat watered down elmers
3. 2 light coat modpodge
4. 1 coat bulldog adhesion promoter
5. primer
6. paint
7. clearcoat and put bulldog adhesion promoter after to give it more flex

Awesome. Any chance, if you have any extra time or an event coming up, that you could take a video of you walking around in your suit doing normals stuff (whatever you might normally do in your suit)? You don't have to break dance or anything (cough...STEALTH...cough). ;) Just wondering what kind of flex you get in the suit and how realistic the movement looks. You know... does it look like Iron Man walking around or does it look like a nicely painted foam suit walking around. Anyways, I am in no rush. So if you are up for it then it doesn't really matter how long it takes. :D
