Doc's foam/fiberglass work + Mark 42 painted pieces

Re: Doc's foam work + new piece to my repertiore

Hi, Doc! I want to say thanks to you for all these methods and tips, your contribution in foam building is just priceless... Can't wait to see your own suit complete! Just losing my mind while thinking how incredible your suit will be when you finish it ;)
But let me ask you a question. Since i'm not living in the US or UK, and buying from ebay would be too slow, i can't get LET (local shops also don't have any). I can only get an urethane isolation lacquer. How do you think, will it work? Does LET contain urethane, or it is made from some other chemical stuff?
Once again, you're awesome. Don't stop surprising the community with all your wisdom :D

Thanks Norton appreciate that bud and about the urethane laquer, is it a like a varnish? Im not to familiar bout that stuff but just try it on a piece of foam to test out n see how long it takes to cure, if can be painted over n if check if oil based or water based. If oil based I wouldnt use it cuz ya would have to paint with enamel n enamel on foam what Ive read gets bad results but I could be wrong. Dont be afraid to experiment. My process of painting isnt written in stone you guys can change or add/remove steps to get it to how ya like it. I just shared how I do it, goodluck:)

Re: Doc's foam work + new piece to my repertiore

Havent posted stuff in a bit so heres what Im working on and to my customers thanks for your guys patience. ya guys are awesome so here the helmet that I previously posted and thats almost completed. I think it coming out bad arse considering my first mark 42 helmet lol and short vid of customers gloves ready to be shipped. Going as fast as possible to fulfill everyones orders as perfect as I can get em. :) also if ya guys didnt know already the helmets fiberglass. To the foam builders I recommend learn fiberglass work its just better to be versatile. To be honest I really dont like to fiberglass/filler :lol but I can do it when needed got lots of autobody work experience which helps. This helmet is gonna have electronics so I wanted it solid.

Re: Doc's foam/fiberglass work + some cool new stuff

Rondo stuff.jpgArm.jpg
I made an extra left bicep and forearm to try out your rondo method. fingers crossed.

Re: Doc's foam/fiberglass work + some cool new stuff

Hey Doc, I'm going through your process with some pieces I'm trying to finish up and I was wondering, is the liquid electrical tape necessary to paint? I finished adding a few layers of Mod Pudge to some pieces and I was wondering if I can go ahead and paint with the SEM Flexible Primer or is the liquid electrical tape absolutely necessary?

Also, will any clear coat work or does it have to be that SEM clear coat? Thanks!

P.S.- Can't wait to get my glove!

Re: Ironman Mark VII coated with rondo

Heres some pics of my foam helmet to check out...

doc what color gold paint did you use? I am having trouble finding the right gold. the ones I keep or bought so far all turn out to be the same dark brown looking gold

While i aint the top expert like doc the let is necessary tho cus that makes when you paint your piece less likely to crack when wearing it.
