Limited Run DL44 TFA Blaster Kit

You can use paste wax to put as much or little shine on it as you like too. Gives it a little realer feel and Protects the paint a bit too.

Well, for the past week I've been bluing away. Probably my inexperience with firearm maintenance. So I've decided that it has gone as far as it can go.

Scope ends and lenses still to do, along with the grill and mystery disc, and scope knob. Need some gold paint and call it job done.

A photo of progress so far and I've included something I picked up last week. Lots of differences, I think.

How do people blacken the Pewter metal? Im using birckwood alu black and blue(steel) but the color is not like deep black, more like grey. On the Alu parts it gets a even og deep black. Are there other chemicals that goes the job better?

Before and after weathering. I went overboard on the right side in a few spots, so I may paint them over and scratch them off again. I tried to match as much of the paint chipping as possible to the gun seen in the posters and film (not the wired, launchbay, other ones) otherwise all that's left is to blue the remaining parts and assemble the scope.

Ok, so i'm just now getting to this.

I think i've got a good handle on assembling the pieces, but i've got a couple questions remaining.

1. Is it ok to just drill the holes and epoxy/jb weld/whatever the studs and washers in place? Or does it really need to be threaded in there?

2. I'm planning on painting - is there anything wrong with weathering the base gun as is?

2b. Is there a best method for weathering? Sand paper? Dremel and a sanding bit? steel wool? etc?

The crossbar studs are only long enough to go in to the threaded washer and through the crossbar with the nuts on top.
It is intended to just glue on to the side, you can get longer studs (10-32 thread) and screw them in if you want.
The prop used in the movie looks like it is painted, but everyone seems to be doing different finishes, so just weathering the existing finish should look fine.
Start light with the steel wool, then work with the heavier abrasives slowly, the side that touches the holster should have a little more weathering than the rest.

Good to know!

I thought i'd read about people taking the gun apart to drill so they wouldn't affect the insides so it's still functional. I don't care if it can shoot pellets or not, but apparently those people were just getting their own studs i guess for extra strength.

Guess i'll be getting some flat black tonight after work :)

Hi Dave,

I'm interested. Do you still have a kit left if I order now? I saw last week you still had a few left. Or do I wait until January?
I've built your ANH version and I'm VERY pleased with the result:

I now have a HFC replica lying here, waiting :)
