DL-44 ESB Blaster Discussion - Greeblies POST 208

I'm no expert, but I always thought it looked like this, originally

Then, at some point during filming, the other piece fell off.

Judging by this picture, if you go with 2 they would be touching or almost be touching in the middle

...... Luke's Bespin blaster, only a single retainer during filming (and quite possibly the second retainer and a motor coil were originally glued on but fell off).

I think that was the concensus and its what I did on mine (dabbed some satin black paint on the original black ring to cover the pool of glue in the middle) however I'll happily pop it off and reglue something if we find out it's something else!

Try buffing that. Steel wool or a scotch pad, or something softer. There's a point between fresh blackening and stripping it where it looks nice and satiny! Also I used perma blue instead of AB

as for the distributor rings, when they're placed close together they almost look like one unit! If that was on purpose, it's clever.

See. That's what happens when you do things with a gimpy finger. Just kidding, buddy.

its almost healed, got the splint off friday morning. more X-rays everything still attached, now all it is is bleeding and just very little swelling, cant wait for this to be over

looking for some more advice guys.

so i ditched the aluminum black idea. i ended up steel wooling it all off and painted it with the blacks boba debt suggested

with it coming out too new looking i did what mara jades father suggested and used wd40 and some old tshirts and rubbed the new finish

what i got was exactly what i was hoping for, BUT i have some serious pitting from the denix in 1 spot

i don't know if i should strip all the paint off and then use a dremel with some polishing stones to smooth and start over

or if i should scruff it all up and use some filler to fill the pits

what do you guys think?

Thats a tough one, I'm actually not sure. You've done so much I want to say leave it, or use some filler. With all that WD40 I highly doubt the corrosion will continue

thanks tom. the glazing putty i've been using covers good and hides well with paint.

i wouldn't mind it if it was little bit smaller, it would actually look great if it were the size of a nickel or quarter. but it's fairly large...

That's why I sanded mine first before using a stripper. I can see alot of imperfections in the finish once I sanded off the top. Don't over think it. It's not supposed to look perfect any way.
