Disney wants more 'Star Wars' in its theme parks

Was the hotel designed in a way for if the plan fails they can just open it up as a regular hotel to stay?
That was my initial thought. Watching the videos, it seems as though if you take away the "interactions", it basically has the same amenities of a typical hotel. I've never been to Disney World to see what their hotels are like, but it reminds of Vegas in the 90's with the various themed casinos popping up. Like Riceball said, if you just 'reverted' it to a simple hotel, you'd have to remodel it and even then, you still have this problem...
Not only that, but there are only a small number of rooms -- 100, IIRC. If they did that and priced the rooms the same as any of the other resorts -- even at the high prices resorts like Grand Floridian, the Polynesian or the Contemporary Resort command -- the place would be booked solid for who knows how long.

Isn't the backstory that the ship has just undergone a major refit and restoration?
Even if it's not part of the official backstory, it's not unreasonable, or unrealistic that the ship has undergone a good number of refits and renovations over its lifetime. Given that it's supposed to be a luxury liner and not a warship, there's no way that the owners would allow it to get run down to the point where it looks its age, that's a surefire way to lose business to the competition. Even if the interior decor hadn't changed since it was first commissioned, they would have repainted it and replaced all of the decorations and furnishings to keep it looking like new.

I failed to articulate it, but I don’t necessarily want it to be as grimy as the Falcon, more so I feel that it doesn’t look like something that has undergone 400 years of service and growth as an institution. The ship doesn’t feel grand and historic in a way that even with refurbishment and refitting should come through. The scope and scale isn’t there IMO

It looks like a very large escape room with some hallways for hotel rooms.

It is rather amusing to see how excited all these Youtubers are because of the themed body wash and shampoo dispensers in the shower!
I totally missed the toilet, why is everyone obsessed with the toilet? Is it some social media joke or something? I feel like I’m missing something

What’s funny about the toilet is that it seems rather mundane. I would be excited about a storable toilet like something you see in a tiny apartment. Have it hinge and hide under the sink etc. The model of toilet looks like something you could get at any kitchen/bath decor store.

Probably the same reason people always photograph the head in a submarine.

One of the Dark Forces games actually had a "Refresher Unit" ( Star Wars lingo ) in it with a Gand and some Stromtroopers standing at urinals.

Speaking of the toilet, some girl on Instagram posted today that all she could think about was her dad consuming way too many all you can eat dyed blue shrimp, and then ruining the entire trip because of how close quarters the bathroom is to the sleeping area. LOL.

Ordinary Adventures were a little disappointed with the toilet too, considering the whole cruiser liner theme they thought that they should have put in toilets similar to what you find on real cruise ships and airliners where they use active suction and not water pressure to flush. I think that would be cool too, but it might be more expensive than simply installing a conventional toiler.

I think that part of the problem is that the Star Wars aesthetic (in universe) hasn't really changed all that much in many centuries. In the course of 300 - 400 years, Star Wars tech hasn't changed a whole hell of a lot and neither has their design aesthetic The Star Wars universe 300 - 400 years ago doesn't look that different from the Star Wars universe of the ST. I think that because of that, there's no real way for the designers of the hotel to do much to look like something really old with centuries of history behind it without making it look almost completely unrecognizable as Star Wars.
