That was my initial thought. Watching the videos, it seems as though if you take away the "interactions", it basically has the same amenities of a typical hotel. I've never been to Disney World to see what their hotels are like, but it reminds of Vegas in the 90's with the various themed casinos popping up. Like Riceball said, if you just 'reverted' it to a simple hotel, you'd have to remodel it and even then, you still have this problem...Was the hotel designed in a way for if the plan fails they can just open it up as a regular hotel to stay?
Not only that, but there are only a small number of rooms -- 100, IIRC. If they did that and priced the rooms the same as any of the other resorts -- even at the high prices resorts like Grand Floridian, the Polynesian or the Contemporary Resort command -- the place would be booked solid for who knows how long.
