Disney Star Wars Parks and/or Website Products

Ahhhhw ... Beautiful Mara's Lightsaber of course ... But I wonder why Disney produce this saber when they "erased" the expended universe made before the sell ??

The COA does label it a “Legends” as they still sell the old EU books in reprint and other products for no longer canon items.

I think it is a good thing as Disney does seemed tapped into what is popular in the fanbase. I also said it before but I am happy to see such products released that are not strictly confined to upcoming or current media tie ins.

Yeah i never saw it go up, must have went fast.

It was a quick announcement on Friday that they would hit the website at 11 east coast time. I believe that within 30 minutes, it went to a back ordered status (I can only assume that the number of product allocated from the LE of 3500 units to the website were not all currently in stock). Then it remained for another couple of hours in that status until it was then marked as sold out. By Sunday, it was removed from the website (via normal searches).

Yes indeed ... Thanks for the explanations (y)

Interestingly it is still available in the Disney Store Singapore, selling for around USD370. Other markets might also still have some stock

I know I do or else I wouldn’t have named my daughter after her.

About 20 years ago, Sideshow had a poll for a 12” figure to do. Mara Jade was a choice and in fact, was leading throughout most of the poll. But then somehow right at the end, Snowbunny Padme from the early Clone Wars micro series pulled it out of no where.

I didn't know about the Mara figure. Perhaps, Disney will let Hot Toys make a Mara figure now. I can't believe that Hot Toys is making odd Prequel Jedi. And I really can't believe, even though it's Arnold, that they are releasing a Mr Freeze.

I saw a story that mentioned the number of Mara lightsabers that went to the Star Wars areas in Disneyland and DisneyWorld. Plus what was allocated to the Disney Store.

I'm watching for reviews in the coming days. To see the comparison between releases.

Aayla Secura, Aurra Sing, and Mara Jade at the 2004 San Diego Comic-Con.

Was there. Got all the autographs.

I don’t think Disney is preventing it. Hasbro released the Black Series Mara Jade a couple years ago. I believe it more of a willingness by companies like Sideshow and Hot Toys to believe that such a release would be profitable enough to warrant production.

I was also at SDCC in 2004 but I only got 2 of those 3 autographs, that’s how I instantly knew where that photo was taken.

Edit: actually I only got photos with them in 2004, I went again in 2005 and got autographs.
Oops. My mistake. I was there in 2001 and 2002.

In 2001, Both Aayla Secura, Aurra Sing actresses were signing free 8x10 size versions of their respective character CCG cards which was being highly promoted at the time. I also believe this was Shannon's (Mara Jade's first appearance at a SDCC as well. I know I was thrilled to hear she would be there. She shared a table with Zahn and Stackpole.

Here are some initial images.

I’m a happy owner of one of only 5 exact copies that Jeff Parks made of the prop he made for the model to hold for the Mara Jade card of the Collectible Card Game (CCG) by Decipher. Jeff Parks did not design the hilt, he made it based off designs he was given (that is based on what I remember home telling me 25 years ago).

It is important to note that the hilt seen on the actual lightsaber card does not utilize that prop but instead a computer rendering of the design. It is this image that Disney has replicated their hilt.

Below is an image of the Jeff Parks hilt copy, the new Disney hilt, and for scale, a real graphlex because many may not realize how small the original prop was made. In fact, when Jeff Parks made an altered version to sell on his site, he made it larger as he felt men would complain about it being undersized (if I remember the reasoning correctly).

I did not do this shot for inaccuracy purposes because based on my comments prior, Disney is attempting to replicate and a different version of the hilt, they can fairly interpret it as they want. I basically took the comparison shot just for informational purposes as I figure someone might be interested.

Here is the image it was based from.

Here is an interesting detail that shows you some one was doing their homework.

You will notice that on the Jeff Park hilt has the brass knob on the opposite side. However if Disney had placed it in the same location, it would not have matched the details of the referenced card image so it makes sense they put it on the other side.

But instead of just putting a covertec style wheel, they must have been aware of Jeff Parks concept because they included the concentric circle details of the brass thumbscrew. Possibly they used a MR replica (as it used a Jeff Park one of five copy to engineer theirs).

first off, I was not laughing that you named your daughter Mara Jade. The name is beautiful and with a great geeky history behind it.

But I was laughing that you brought up that Poll. Cause I was on Rebemscum forum when the results came in
And I was, and I'm still in shock to this day that Snowbunny Padme won.
I mean, besides Mara Jade, there was also Kir Kanos, Quilan Vos, and these eventually get made Asajj Ventress and Admiral Thrawn
And Snowbunny Padem won, WTF!!!

I vaguely remember back in the day when Sideshow was making Star Wars statues that they were making a bunch of characters. Even a character like Darth Talon who was very popular. They teased the Adam Hughes design Mara with this artwork.

But then stopped even though a lot of people on the Statue Forum & Sideshow Collectors (now CollectorFreaks) were looking forward to the project.

Thanks for the lightsaber pics. It looks like a nice set. I'll probably have to get one. I just remember a scene in one of the Zahn books I think where Luke and Mara are deflecting blaster bolts from an ancient droid for a long time.

This will always be my sequel trilogy

I'm going to re-read the books. I wish they made a soundtrack like they did with Shadows of the Empire.

I was watching a review of Master Replicas Mara lightsaber and saw this artwork. Anyone know the artist or origin? I'm sure I've seen it before. Perhaps it's from an old book cover I have in storage but can't remember. Google reverse image search is horrible.

I’ve honestly never seen this before!

It is an alternate Japanese cover for the Survivor's Quest novel by Tsuyoshi Nagano.

Why did Luke never get his right hand fixed?

In canon, and also the EU, I'm sure it has something to do with: "As a constant reminder, of how close he came to falling to the Dark Side"

..but it does beg the question, since cloning technology was a thing that was known in the SW Universe, couldn't medical science grow new limbs for amputees?
