Disney Jafar staff

I've been working on one of these and thought I'd throw some info out there for anyone interested. I know there was some info in the junkyard but thought I'd start a thread here for general reference.

Using the toy as a starting point, I found there was actually 2 different models produced. One for Ringling Brothers, probably for a Disney on Ice production, and the other by Mattel in 1992. The Ringling Bros. version seems to be the more accurate one without the ringed neck. The pictures below show the 2 diffeerent toys to compare to the screen version.

I am looking for a good tapered staff starting at 1 3/4 inch diameter. My first idea is a cheap pool cue but I'm not sure what the diameter is on one. Any ideas?

Hi there,
the pool/snooker cue sounds a good idea, but although I am not an expert (at all!!!) the research I've done says the tip should be 12.75 mm – 13.25 mm (that's less than 1/2 an inch). The length of the cue should be around 150 cm (about 58 inches.) One great advantage of the cue would be that it splits in the middle and would make it easy to transport. It would need to be built up quite a bit to look screen acurate though. I have to make one for our Christmas Pantomime this year - we are doing Aladdin! If you have any more bright ideas that could help here I would love to hear them.

I actually used a solid pool cue for durability and to eliminate as many joints as possible. It stands shoulder height.

I disconnected the sound module that was supposed to sound like hissing but sounded more like a choo choo train or static.

I rewired and replaced the leds so I could turn them on constant, but I left it so they still flash when I open his mouth for a hypnotising effect.

Here's the final pic...

Wow !!!!
BlackMarketMagi this is a great idear i have the same staff (still in the small version) and have been trying to think about how to extend the staff to make it the correct height i will give that a try thank you for sharing your idear!!!!!!!

No problem. I don't know if you have Goodwill stores in Australia or stores where they sell donated items but I've found they almost always have old pool cues for cheap.

Yes we do but i have never seen pool cues in them but im going to keep my eyes peeled ... lets hope im lucky in a garage sale!!!!

I've been searching for a Jafar staff like this for awhile, I'd love to talk to you BlackMarketMagi about the details on making this if you are willing. This looks really great!
